Our Apartment

Up those stairs is the door to our
apartment at Terezija 54. On the ground
level is a recording studio. It doesn't look
like much from the outside, but we feel
very at home there.

These women -both locals and internationals
- are a part of the women's book club of which Karin is a member.  Here is the group meeting
in our living room.  L to R:  Jasmina, Monica,
Ronnie, Mindy, Peggy and Amela.

This is a more typical view in our living room.  John relaxes on "his" chair and our adopted street cat, Maco (MAHT-so) -now a very indoor cat, relaxes on one of us!  We enjoy quiet evenings at home watching movies or listening to music and reading books.

This is our kitchen.  It's much larger than the average Bosnian kitchen which is great for us because we love to cook and have guests over for supper.  Here is Karin making tortillas -a food that is not available in Bosnian stores!

This is a view of our building from our backyard.  Our apartment is the 2nd floor.  In the foreground you can see the remains of what was once a summer kitchen house.  It was hit by a grenade during the war and destroyed.  This spring we cleaned out the rubble and used the bricks to lay a floor.  We now use it as a place to barbeque!  You can see the grass doesn't get cut as often (with a scythe!) as it would if we had a lawnmower!
