First stop: Omaha, Nebraska June 6-9

Next stop:

Kansas City, Kansas, June 9-13

My favorite part of going to Kansas City was bonding with Tim & Jill. Sometimes you just have to rest and wait for the energy to boost you to the next place. When you're patient and can wait for everyone to have the energy to go do something, and to even want to do something at the same time, it's great. :-D

The first thing we did was to go to the The Jazz Kitchen. We had just too much fun being seated right next to the band. If anyone can tell me the name of that band that played that Thursday night, I will so thankful! The band played music swing-style, like the Stray Cats. The food was a great cajun type food. Seafood, chicken, pasta,.. you get the idea. 'Twas a blast.

We couldn't resist walking the Plaza and seeing the sights. It was like an Old Market, but with more updated stores, like a downtown area. It was such a nice night, we were able to cut a deal with the carraige-ridin' dudes and see the lovely sights for a low, low price. :) Wonderful.

The next things we did included: Children's Peace Pavilion in Independence, MO;, Sonic in Overland Park, KS, a Greek festival where we had Greek nutty/honey desserts and bought Greek-style jewelry and lotion, then we actually went to the Crown Center Mall and Italian festival. We capped off the night with a bowling session where we imitated Napolean Dynamite characters. Hallie: Trisha, Matt: Uncle Rico, Tanya: Deb, Tim: Pedro, and Jill: Kip. We thought Pedro would win but Kip came in at the last minute for a surprise overthrow.

For our final day in KC, we simply went to the Oak Park Mall located in Overland Park, KS. We were delighted that Tim and Jill could accompany us through our whole trip. The highlight of the Oak Park stop was the Build-a-Bear workshop, where I have a display of Hallie's creation, Hilary Duff the shopping bear.

Mr. Griz and Hilary Duff.

Although rivaling the fun was Le Gourmet Chef, "the sampling shop," as Hallie affectionately refers to it... and Kirkland's. Kirkland's has become one of my favorite stores! So I hear from Amy and Jill, they seem to love it as well. We actually bought a painting! If you like to decorate with palm trees at all, you've got to see Kirkland's. Also they have a lot of flowery art and home decor.

On to Indiana.

Back to Omaha.
