That was about two years ago. I remember telling my wife Zonna that we would need to buy new watches after the year 2000. We both chuckled about it, and for a few months, she gave it very little further thought.
I really didn't intend to investigate y2k directly in the beginning. In fact, I didn't think y2k could ever amount to much. I figured back then, that y2k commentators were mostly radicals, paranoid Biblical eschatologists, or otherwise motivated over reactions on the part of a few alarmists who just didn't know better. But, I kept running into y2k information I gradually had to admit I could no longer ignore it.
The Y2K commentator to catch my full attention was a man named Chuck Missler. When I got to his site, I followed the y2k resource link I found there. I was, and continue to be impressed by Missler for several reasons, not the least of which is his varied and accomplished past. His staff is also to be commended.
From there the y2k world opened up for me. I no longer sniggered at y2k commentators. And, I learned to look for such people as Ed Yourdon, Dr. Ed Yardeni, Michael Hyatt, Gary North, Gordon McDonald, and for sites like the Cassandra Project, or the Joseph Project. Now, my list is much longer than it was back then, but that is where I started with this thing called y2k.
I have grown more unafraid y2k as time goes on, and I become better informed. However, I am still concerned for uninformed people.
I have two reasons for that. The first is personal, their lack of preparation will likely effect me directly. Second, I am concerned for them and those they love. I suppose that should be turned around.
As we approach the 21st century together I want everyone to pull together in a common effort that I can be a part of, and not a mob I have to defend myself from. This page is a part of my personal Y2K planning.
I have a concern for my neighbors here in Fresno, for my nation and world, for my hometown of Lemmon, South Dakota. I like it there. I carry a part of Lemmon in my heart, and it makes me smile to remember late summer afternoons, sitting on my step, and greeting my neighbors on their evening walks. Someday, I would like to return there. I want everybody to be okay.
Ours is a time we can use to pull together, or allow to split us apart. Neighborhoods must come together now, or be split apart later. We can choose to be vicarious or victims.
There are no guarantees with y2k, except that it is a REAL problem we are going to spend a trillion dollars on as a nation. It might be nothing at all—then again, it could be the greatest tragedy this world has seen in the 1000 years or so. (Personally I believe Jesus Christ will always be the world's greatest HOPE.)
I don't plan to get rich from Y2K. I do plan to survive in as good a shape as possible. If others will allow me to offer them some information about Y2K, or planning for it, I'll help as many people as I can. It is that simple.
I grew up in Lemmon, so when I saw they already had a slot for y2k information on this site, I put this together and sent it to them. Without willingness on the part of Dakota-Web to feature it, and without the information I have acquired from others more knowledgeable than I, none of this would be here.
From my heart, I wish to thank those who have helped me come to an understanding of Y2K. I hope I have provided at least one link to them all. The information in this web page is offered in the same spirit, I believe it was given to me.
From my heart, I pray y2k will only amount to some minor inconvenience(s). If it doesn't, the Bible instructs us to be aware of planning when crop failures threaten, or when dark times approach. So…

I am not a Y2K researcher by profession. By profession, I am a masters level mental health clinician and administrator. By profession, I have been trained to look for information, and figure out what it means.
After hurricane Andrew, circumstances moved me out of Miami and the field of mental health and into working as a journalist in Lemmon. Since then, writing has been in by blood. Today, the biggest news I can write about is Y2K.
In this document I reference hundreds of sources. I do not represent any of them. I am grateful however, for all of them. This page is the result of much reading, and much pondering. I've tried to see y2k from as many sides as I can. If it were not for every author of every piece of material I have read on y2k, I would not understand the problem as I do today. I hope I have linked to them all more than once.
