FLASHBACK
The Que Club, Birmingham
8th April 2000

A game of three halves

Once again a meetup was on the cards as Flashback bounced its way onwards in 2000 to yet another quality night out. This time we had vocal and dancing support from Neil, Steve, Andy and Naomi, as Midlands met London for a full-on aural soundclash. The Gallery paid host to some oldskool house 'n' hardcore from GLENN ASTON before we moved on to the Que Club, where the police were in full effect - rumours were of a girl having died there in the recent past, but the queue wasn't slowed down by their presence, and we all gained entry to the club quickly.

The Que Club had been expanded in the number of rooms used for this event, with 2 siderooms now decked out in proper d'n'b and trance/techno fashion, so there was less emphasis this time on staying in one room, more on flitting about to get the vibe.

Needless to say, PILGRIM was mixing up some classic oldskool tuneage as ever to get the party rockin, followed closely by SY and MISTRESS MO on the wheels of steel. RAT PACK chose some quality tuneage and added the RP magic, whilst DOC SCOTT and SS turned on the dark 'n' moody proto-jungle rumblings that they're more known for these days, which meant that it was then easy to turn to...

...the drum and bass room, where the mood, although much darker than elsewhere, was still as hardcore as ever. RAP, ADDICT, PACE..... beats and pieces winners bar none.

On the flipside to the same 'ardkorr coin was the techno/trance room, where MARK EG is king, and M-ZONE... er... another king! :-) Is trancecore the new hardcore? Who knows, but the guys sure know how to rock the funky beats, and this was no exception. Wicked stuff.

Here's the next one in June..... nice.
