Logfile
from Kibai.
Baths
Steam
enshrouds, a misty curtain that veils the room. Pools abound, water constantly
swirling, warm and inviting; soapsand waits on nearby ledges for easy access.
Racks of clothes stand by the door, freshly washed clothing hang from some, and
bundles of yet to be washed clothes fill mutliple baskets beneath. Large
cupboard doors open to reveal multitude of fresh, soft towels, and plenty of
bathing items -- sponges, pumice stones, and back scrubbers.
Ducking
steamclouds are eight firelizards.
Celeste
is here.
Obvious
exits:
Caverns
*swish-swash*
Ahh, the sounds of the water lapping at the sides of the bath. Those waters
look rather still, don't they? Sure, maybe there are a couple of bubbles floating
up from one side of the pool. A few more... and Kibi's nekkid and floating body
just under the surface in the water. Jeeze, wouldn't it just be really messy if
the candidate when and drown himself under there?
Lauria
patters into the baths in a loose long dress, unlike the one she normally
wears. Instead of thick, this one's fabric is a thin cotton, bland
greyish-blue, almost like an overly long tank top that falls to her heels. Two
sandals deck her feet, made of leather, with thin cork-like soles.
Were
she like a certain Greek legend, the candidate sitting by one bathing pool
might just be swallowed up by her reflection in the water. Good thing Alasse is
Pernese then, sitting with feet in the water while dreamily brushing out her
hair. She's strangely dressed for the baths. While she's admittedly wearing far
fewer clothes than she does on a normal day in the 'Reaches, isn't it customary
to take off everything rather than rolling sleeves and pant legs up? Kibai's
possible corpse doesn't attract her attention, but Lauria's entrance causes her
to peer through the steam, squinting to see who it is. "Hullo," she says, giving a small
wave.
Celeste
wanders in, wearing a dirty looking Healer robe, which she promptly removes
upon reaching the baths, and tosses into a corner, leaving her wearing her
typical brightly-colored dress. "Oh! Lauria, hi." She beams brightly
at the other girl, but doesn't see Kibai under the water. "How were your
chores today?" As she talks, the Healer girl sheds the rest of her
clothes, modestly wrapping a towel firmly about her torso as she moves toward
the side of the baths, now noticing Alasse. "Oh, and you too. It's a
crowd."
Well,
it is a good fardling thing that Kibi isn't drowning or dead, for the fat lot
of good all of these collecting females are. Go figure. No, just enjoying a
moment under the water. Another bubble, and then he is rising to the surface
with an explosion of water, shaking his head from side to side rather akin to a
canine, only to have dark locks plaster themselves to his head. "Crowd
indeed." Eeeek! Females!
Lauria
looks surprised to see Celeste, smiling at her, shrugging silently at the
question about the chores. "How were yours?" Squinting back at the
'hullo', she responds her own, "Hello?" Back-- and then nearly jumps
back as Kibai emerges-- feeling for the wall behind her before standing up
straight. "Shards. How long has he been there?" No, don't talk
directly to him, talk about him in third person.
Alasse
nods at Celeste, jumping a second later as Kibai emerges. "What /were/ you
doing under there?" she asks, a bit annoyed as she tries to brush the some
of the water she splashed around off of her shirt. Eek! Male! Well, not really,
though Alasse's holdbred morals would prefer seperate bathing rooms. So she merely turns her head slightly to one
side. "I'd guess he's been in here awhile," she answers Lauria.
"Or I didn't notice him when I came in just before you two. It is awfully
steamy in here."
Celeste
looks just as startled as Lauria, and clutches her towel closer to her body.
"Oh!" She knits her brow, and gives Lauria a worried frown.
"Probably since before we got here, or we would have seen him," she
guesses. She moves toward Alasse, doing her best not to disturb the steam, in
order to keep a nice fog about to obscure vision. "They should really have
seperate bathing rooms," she echos Alasse's thoughts outloud.
Kibai
drags both of his hands over his face and back through his hair so it is draw
away form his eyes. Bright gaze slips over to Lauria and he smirks, "Long
enough to suddenly find the place not quite as quiet as I first imagined."
A squint at Alasse, "Bathing? That is generally what happens in here...
although I've a theory that that pool in the back there is used for other pursuits."
He swishes forward though, bracing forearms upon the lip of the pool as he
peers up at the girls. "Oh, please tell me you are not about to turn into
a bunch of shrinking violets." Do they even have violets on Pern? Ah well.
"Just get in. I don't bite... unless requested." He rolls his eyes
though and then swishes away to the other side.
Lauria
won't ask, most assuredly. In fact, she rolls her eyes back at Kibai in her own
immature retaliation, heading towards the towels. She slips her shoes off and
takes Alasse's approach, standing, staring down at the water. It's all Kibai's
fault, really. "I also wish they were seperate," she remarks, glaring
at Kibai from her point on the edge.
Celeste
glances toward the back pool curiously. "What do you mean, 'other
pursuits'?" She's distracted from her question however, by his next
comment. "We are not shreaking violents," she retorts. "We're
not making any noise at all -- " Other than talking. "And we
certainly aren't violent." Ah, good 'ol Celeste. Can always rely on her to
get sayings wrong.
"Oh
I know!" Alasse exclaims with a small smile for Celeste. "A Turn
living in weyrs, and I still haven't gotten used to that." The candidate
shrugs as though it is some defect of weyr life, picking up her brush again to
give her hair more attention. She snorts at Kibai, steadily looking at the wall
behind him while answering. "I meant hiding under the water," she
says drily, working through a tangle. "I'll get in when I'm good and
ready." Sure, although that sounds suspiciously like 'I won't get in till
you're gone'.
"Shrinking.
Shrinking, Celeste," Kibi clarifies, smiling wryly over to her. But, the
girls are still standing there, and Kibi doesn't look like he is about to leave
any time soon. In fact, the young man is reaching over for the soap sand and
beginning to work both hands together to form a good lather. Hrm, is that the
smell of sungazers? "I wasn't hiding. I was soaking. I was...
relaxing." He flickers a glance to them before looking back at the lathered
soapsand, "It really does feel nice."
Celeste
is still standing by the edge of the pool, clutching her towel. At Kibai's
corretion, she looks ruffled. "I knew that," she replies after a
moment. "I was just..." She trails off, and goes for a subject
change. "Well, close your eyes then while I get in." She waves her
hand at him. "Or turn around or something. And stay on that side of the
pool."
Lauria
sort of squats, though offers Celeste a rather amused grin at her
misunderstanding. But she isn't quite so brave as Celeste, and dangles her feet
in the warm water. She's willing to wait, as long as it isn't -that- long. How
long could Kibai possibly -take-? "I wouldn't trust him," she mutters
to Celeste. "Alasse should watch him, or something. Well. Not watch."
Bad idea. "Maybe stand in front of you. Or something."
Alasse
snorts softly again at Kibai's comments, but declines to say anything,
reasoning that it was an argument no one would win. She swings her legs slowly through the water, watching the swirls
of water. She can outwait Kibai, or it
looks as though she means to give it a go, at any rate. It's peaceful enough
for now with just her legs in the water. She laughs suddenly at Lauria.
"Certainly not watch," she echoes. "We could hold a robe out in
front or something, though I don't trust him even that far."
Kibai
chuckles faintly, eyes the trio for a moment and then slowly turns about so
that his back is to them. "Will this work?" he drawls slowly, just as
his arms reach up, lathered hands dropping into his dark hair to begin to work
the soap into it. "I swear I won't try to turn around and get some
teenager cheep thrill at watching any of you get into the water. Admittedly, it
is tempting, but I'm really in no mood to face your wrath or end up staying up
until the wee hours of the evening with the sight seared into my eyes for me to
dream about for countless evenings to come."
Celeste
looks as if she was about to drop the towel and quickly jump in, but the last
bit of Kibai's little speech result in Celeste pulling the towel up to her
neck, and hugging it tightly to herself. "Now I /definitely/ can't get
in," she decides with a vaguely disgusted tone. "Kibai, can't you be
polite for once?" She sounds annoyed and glances at her fellow female
candidates. "Now what?"
"I
still don't trust him," is Lauria's resolute answer. "I still don't
trust him. I swear to you, he enjoys teenagers' cheep thrills. Mm. Perhaps--
oh, I'm not sure, Celeste. If anything, I'd say drag your towel down into the water
with you." But Laur is still on the edge, kicking her feet, not looking
remotely interested in splashing in anytime soon. "It might work. Urh. If
only he weren't in here..."
Alasse
does her best to ignore Kibai, sniffing slightly without making a move to get
into the water. Swinging her legs out of the water, she picks up a towel and
looks at it thoughtfully "I
suppose we could rig a sort of screen," she says. "Not that I'll be
really comfortable even with that. I guess I could always get a bath in the
morning, but," she shoots a disgusted look in Kibai's general direction.
"I don't want to get clean just to get filthy again."
Kibai's
back is still rather resolutely turned to them, fingers working through his
hair to create even more suds. "Then stand there for the rest of the
evening. It really does not matter to me." There might have been a
shoulder shrug there, or not. But he is still not moving from that pool.
Celeste
frowns down at Kibai, all the while trying not to look to closely, and then
bobs her head at Lauria. "I suppose I could try taking my towel in with
me." She considers this. "Or, I could just come back later." She
seems to think this is the better plan, and edges back toward her Healer robe
and clothes. "In fact, I'll go now. You take your time, I'll just get some
clean clothes and worry about bathing later. I'm clean." And disturbed.
"Thanks, girls, for your help. Good luck." And she throws her robe on
over her towel and leaves.
Alasse
sighs heavily, twisting her hair up into a knot. Wither her hair back like that
and her sleeves and pants rolled back, she looks remarkably like she belongs on
some ship in the southern seas rather than in the steamy bathing room. Right down to her legs planted firmly and
her hands on her hips. "That's
it. I'm definitely /not/ getting in
with him here," she decides, looking to Lauria to hear her decision.
"I
think I'm taking my recommended approach," Lauria mutters after Celeste
has exited, attempting to grasp at the nearby towel she's lugged to the side of
the pool with her. "You're not?" Suddenly the water just got more
forbidding. Alasse is more against it, Lauria was feeling better about it for a
moment. "Well, Alasse, I'll get in with my towel-- and use a dry one to get
out-- and then I'll get some suds, and then-- ... I mean, if you want."
Kibai
hesitates at the sound of Celeste leaving, his fingers stopping their scrubbing
of his hair. Too bad they don't get the chance to see that rather mischievous
smile lurking about his lips. He draws in a breath, and then slips under the
surface of the water. A few bubbles later and he is bursting back up. Admire
how he sparkles. There is another rush of water as the boy pushes over to the
lip, plants hands upon the rocky sides, and then levers himself up, climbing to
his feet. "I'm getting out." Yes, you better believe that the rather
'bishounen' young man is going to pad over, dripping and nekkid to the towels
without a shy bone in his body, and then wrap one about his slim waist.
The
housekeeper arrives to cart Celeste off to bed.
Alasse
shakes her head firmly, a dark scowl knitting her brows together. "Oh
no," she says. "Not with him in the water." Or out of it, as the
case is now. Squeal! She claps a hand over her eyes a few seconds after Kibai
pops up out of the water, whirling around to face in the opposite direction.
Sailor she might look right now, but she definitely doesn't have the mindset of
one.
Lauria
winces as well, quite as holdbred as Alasse-- and more, when it comes to nudity.
"Shards, Kibai, did you have to go and..." She grumbles something
inaudible and probably unintelligible, and grabs at her towel, busying herself
with it while Kibai gets his own. She's actually picking at the little loops in
the towel's fabric for a bit, attempting to assess how much longer it'd take
Kibai to get a towel on him. And he's probably already had one on for a bit.
"Done streaking, yet?" Right. Streaking in the baths.
Kibai
snickers at the sound of a squeak, turning his head to look over at Alasse.
Should he have given more warning before getting out? Probably, but he could
really care less. Comes from being a snobbish brat. "Streaking?" And
then the boy actually laughs, clearly amused. Head shakes from side to side
before he moves off, snapping up another towel to work on his hair before
departing. No words of farewell. He simply leaves.
