The
Berkley Apartments - 302
Clearly,
apartment 302 is a bachelor's land that knows no womanly touch. While the
apartment is clean, even immaculate, it's hard to mistake the gender
preferences of the decor. The main room is painted a neutral creme color with a
tan border that displays many different kinds of fish around the world; On the
walls, glass-windowed storage cabinets hold poles, tack and bridle for horses,
nets, ropes, and any number of bestiary-related clutter, most of which can't
possibly be of any use in the city. Tools hang on a cork board on the far wall,
ranging from different gauges of wire to a welding torch. Contrastingly, the
kitchen is decked out in warm shades of red and white, with an expansive spice
set and expensive cutlery visible among the otherwise immaculate countertops.
Stranger yet is the complete absence of electronics; No clock, TV, radio, or
telephone grace the entire apartment, and both the table and the massive bed
that sits in the bedroom seem handmade, if awkwardly so.
Namame,
Inami, and Hatsui are here.
Obvious
exits:
Exit
Travis
shakes his head at Anana, though the kiss on the cheek takes the edge from her
cheery sarcasm. "Stubborn
woman. He thinks it's crazy, or some sort
of dream, ne?" A glance is given
Inami, but all he can do is shrug.
"Running through allies? Hope you ran all the way home." Not that she can't take care of herself, but
pushing it isn't something he's fond of.
"Good shot, that. If you hit him harder, he might grow some
sense."
Insanity
is of course the more logical conclusion after all, not that it makes it any
easier to accept. "Course I think it's crazy, you'd have to be crazy to...
" His voice trails off as if caught up in some random thought or memory.
"Ne'er mind, you are a loon ain'tcha? Always have been." Kenny adds
that last bit as a sort of muttered afterthought. "Names? What do you
mean? Ya'll named pretty weird if you ask me."
The key
turns in the lock of the door, and Chase is making his appearance. He finally
returns to whatever suits as his current home after a few late classes at the
University, bag weighing heavily upon his shoulder. "Hey... is he..."
Well, guess that answers his question as the 'thug' speaks.
"Well,
you're right about it being crazy, but it's definitely real," Anana
replies, nodding at Travis, though her remarks are addressed to Kenny. "If
you prefer, I'm Anana, which is pretty much as weird as Hatsui, but I'll answer
to either Hatsui or Anana, so pick which you prefer or are more comfortable
with." Chase's entrance earns him a rather bright smile of greeting.
"Seems that our guest is awake. What happened, anyway?" The question
is a fairly general one.
"Yeah,
nucking futs, but if you don't mind remembering everything right now, or
letting ... there's the pup now."
Travis takes a moment, removes the sword from the sheath, and aims a
blow toward Inami's midsection. He might be kidding, he might not, but at least
he's not attempting to hit the man in the head. "Yeah, he lives. ...for now."
It's a
damn good thing that instinct kicks in naturally rather than depending on
Kenny's actual thoughts. "Oh shit!" A startled yelp rises out of the
young man as he tries to ward off the blow and the chi barrier rises up to do
the job for him in a much better place. The sudden attack raises gets his
dander up and those green eyes narrow as the barrier suddenly expands to slam
back back at Namame.
Chase
shrugs his shoulder, causing the pack to fall to the ground and lean up against
the wall. He smirks over at Anana, considering the last time he saw her, it was
her back side fleeing away. "For as small as you are, you're awfully durn
quick. And I'm sure Travis would appreciate it if you practiced actually
running away more often." But now Travis is swinging his sword at Inami
again. "Dammit, Travis! You're gonna give me a heart attack one of these
days!" But at the flash of chi, the teenager is getting that tingle in the
back of his neck. Well, Namame got him to glow again. "He's... Well, he's
definitely different than John. I think it might actually be him."
"Namame!!"
Anana yelps, caught by surprise by the movement. "Both of you, stop that.
It might have been necessary, but continuing it isn't! Sanity, for once, is a
good thing! As sane as we ever get, I mean... um, right. Don't make me separate
you two?" Somewhat astonished to hear one of her mother's admonishments
coming from her own lips, Anana shakes her head, sending a quick shaft of calm
towards Namame before her attention is caught by Chase, and she pulls a face at
him. So mature, really.
Travis
swings, and ... hits a shield.
"Ha!" But that doesn't last long, because the nudge sends him
back into the wall. Still smirking, he sheaths the sword and gives Hatsui a
half apologetic look. "Just
checking! Damn.. alright, I'm calling Uruki." And he's going to shut up and do that just now.
Travis
begins to dial his phone.
<Phone>
"Uruki? Namame, I think we have someone here at John's old place that
you'll want to meet. Can you make it over here anytime soon? Maybe you can give
us a final verdict on just who this guy is." He's not mentioning just yet that it's Inami. Travis does like
surprises once in a while.
<Phone>
Travis glances over at Inami, half grinning again. "Hai, Uruki, as soon as you can, ne?" With that, he hangs up.
Travis
hangs up his phone.
Chase
smirks right on back over to Anana, and then makes a point of reaching around
and rubbing the back of his head. You know, right where a pan hit him before.
*rub-rub-rub* "Niiiiice," he drawls as Travis hits the wall.
"Careful now. I don't need to pay for new walls. The smoke damage is
enough."
Chase
begins to dial his phone.
Brice
answers his phone.
<Phone>
"Hello?" It's Brice. He's home.
A
shimmering vortex of wind begins to form in the midst of the apartment. From
out of its center a form begins to emerge, finally solidying into that of
Setsuna as he steps out of the wind tunnel and turns to close it and send it
away once more.
Anana
looks piqued, expression torn between humour and embarrassment and failing
miserably at deciding on one or the other -- so she's blushing and trying not
to laugh at the same time. "I did say I was sorry, Chase," she
protests, digging the toe of one shoe into the floor and studying the way it
bends. "It was what came to hand." Travis' quick conversation earns
him a nod, and she waits impatiently for everyone's arrival; it'll be her first
time seeing Setsuna since before the tick incident, but she's not going to get
in the way of the current task. Instead, she just beams at the new arrival.
<Phone>
Chase plucks out his cell to call up the aniki. Sure. He could have just jumped
up and down a lot to get Brice to come up here, crabbing about the noise, but
he'll be good this time. "Hey. Come upstairs. The door is open. Everyone's
up here."
You
hang up your phone.
Kenny
drops the barrier moments after Namame hits the wall, groaning as he drops his
arms. "Hell, what.." Yep, Mr. Coherency tonight isn't he? Blame the
concussion. Turtles are supposed to be hardshelled, not hard headed! His eyes
widen though as the vortex forms, making him sit up in startlement. A move he
instantly regrets as his head swims. "...Uruki." Ooh, was that a
mental jumpstart there?
Hikitsu
walks into the apartment.
"Well,
at least he remembers someone right off."
Travis is still in sarcasm mode.. oh, wait. That's normal. "You needed to be hit over the head,
Tomite. She just beat the rest of us to it, that's all. Damned pup." He either likes the reaction that gets from
Chase, or he really does believe that the boy is, indeed, a pup.
Brice
would not crab about the noise. He'd just whack Chase in the head again, but
that's a common enough occurence anyway. In any case, he hung up the phone with
a glare since Chase didn't give him any time to respond, and came up the stairs
to see everyone (and chew out the otouto of course). He pounds on the door in
his typical dealing-with-Chase fashion. "Chase? Anana? Open up!" He's
not yelling, but he's definitely loud enough to be heard through the door.
Chase
rolls his eyes at Anana, "You still run like a girl though." Because,
well... he can say that. "And I /so/ didn't need to be hit over the head
like the thug. I was going to..." But then Brice is yelling, and he
mutters, "I could have swore I told him the door was opened." Voice
raises, "Forgot how to turn a doorknob, aniki?" He moves to the door
to open it for him, dark eyebrows lifted in question.
Setsuna
glances around the room, gaze immediately going to the one who says his name.
He blinks, then blinks again, as a small lock holding back memories is opened
at last. Enough at least, to make the other seishi say back, "Inami?"
Oh! The real Inami! Namame's mention of a remembering captures Setsuna's
attention at that point, "You mean he doesn't know or doesn't fully
remember?"
Anana
just rolls her eyes in reply to Chase. "I /am/ a girl." She looks
down at herself, frowning, then shakes her head. So not commenting on appearances,
nope. "Brice!" Lookit, happy Hatsui; she gets to see everyone again,
when no-one seems to be hurt. "Look!" She nods towards Kenny, a laugh
escaping her before she sobers again, letting Travis answer Setsuna's
questions.
Kenny
has a bad bad headache, but it's mostly Namame's fault there. "You...
Uruki.. awh hell. There's no chance that I'm still asleep is there?" He
has a hand over the back of his head, wincing as he leans back against the
couch, still dressed in a tattered dirty prison jumpsuit with a bandage - field
dressing around his left arm. Eyeing the other new comer in the doorway he
squints as he fights down dizziness. "Aren'tcha supposed to have a patch
or something?"
Travis
wrinkles his nose at Anana as she laughs.
"Ha, ha. Yeah." He
reaches out to take the girl's hand, though, despite her laughter, and shrugs
at Setsuna. "Yeah, it's him.
Damned coward tried to get away from us, but I hit him over the head." With his sword, but he's not going there. No
telling on himself. "He's either
afraid to remember or.. Guess that hit to the head knocked something loose
after all."
Brice
gives Chase a classic deadpan look, deciding to save the skull-whack for a
later time - stuff to do now after all! "I was making sure you hadn't gone
deaf because of the frying pan to the head. You didn't give me a chance to
answer on the phone, otouto. What's going on?" Brice steps inside, nodding
to all, automatically going to give Anana a one-armed hug - and then pauses at
Kenny's question, giving him a look that is, for him, weird. "I have one,
see?" He pushes back his hair to clearly reveal his eyepatch, giving the
new arrival a good look-over. And then... "What the hell..." Stare,
two, three. "I...nami?"
Chase
responds to Anana's words with a bright grin, "Exactly my point." But
we'll just leave it at that. He flickers a glance to Travis, adding as well,
"Yeah, and that was right before he put a knife to my throat and demanded
to have my clothes. But I won't take that personal or anything. I'm sure it
happens all the time when seishi are escaped convicts and everything." He
rolls his eyes, and then hurtles over the back of one of the seat to plop into
it. He glances back to Brice, smiling faintly, "It's not being deaf. It is
selective hearing." He practices it often.
"Why
is it that we seem to greet our new members by hitting them over the
head?" wonders Setsuna, shaking his head and smiling. "It's a good
thing the majority of us have hard heads otherwise, we'd have some serious
problems. Of course, I was kinda hoping that the smack Tomite's brain would
help sort things out up there." He gives Chase a wink, then pauses, eyes
growing distant. Brain to brain call coming in. "Anou, I hate to arrive
and then flee, but Suki is asking for me. Namame, are you going to stay with
him then? You and the others? Just in case? I mean, look at what he's wearing.
That doesn't forbode well. Anana? Mind coming home with me?"
Anana's
hand is caught easily enough after she gives Brice a hug in return, a chuckle
escaping her. "What's that face for, Namame? I'm just happy to see
everyone, that's all." Kenny, too, gets a smile, though it's a bit more
sympathetic than the mischief that the others get at this point. Her own
memories are still rather fuzzy yet of Inami. "Dreams can be a lot worse
than being awake, Inami. I don't want to mess around with your head-"
That's one thing that's clear in her memory. "-but it's dangerous if you
don't remember now, especially with all that's been happening." Setsuna's
questions draw an amused grin. "I never hit you or Darren over the
head," she protests teasingly, then nods, giving Travis a quick kiss
before she slips her hand out of his, reaching for Setsuna's instead. "I
wanted to talk to 'Suki about something, and if he'll help me, things may be
easier." Nestling her hand in Setsuna's, she gives him a warm smile.
"I'm glad to see you're all right, 'Suna. Looks like we've got to go,
everyone."
Travis
sits back against the wall again, leaning the sword against his shoulder. "I get to babysit this one? ..I should
let Tomite do the honors, he's good at that sort of thing." Chase is given a rather wry look, but he
shrugs. "Hai, I'll keep an eye on
the trouble, but don't let that stubborn woman talk you into letting her do
something foolish."
Uruki
has opened a portal to The Dakota - Penthouse Suite
Uruki
has entered the portal.
Uruki
has closed the portal.
Kenny
eyes the guys left here to watch over him, eyeing them back a little warily.
"Yer not gonna hit me again are you?" he grumbles, feeling rather out
of sorts still. "Don't suppose /someone/ can get me a change of clothes?
And a shower?" He sniffs and makes a face. "Faugh, that's the last
time I try to swim the Bowerie Bay."
"I'll
take that as a yes." Brice nods and waves at the departing two, sighing at
Namame and Tomite but not at all surprised, and looking back at Kenny with a
studying look. "So, what's your name this time? I'm Brice Kent by the way,
I live downstairs." Right underneath them actually, make things convenient
sometimes. "And how tall are you? I might have some stuff that'll fit
you..." Yeah, the prison jumper has got to go. Ask about that later,
Kent...
Chase
blinks after Setsuna, "I really don't need any sense knocked into me. I'm
perfectly fine as is without having my brains rattled by a frying pan."
And if he had a dime for every time someone mentioned knocking sense into
him... he'd be a rich boy. He waves after both Anana and Suna, but is peering
back to Travis, "Only when I'm passed out against a door." His gaze
flickers back over to Kenny, considering for a moment. "I might have
something he could fit into. If it is baggy enough. All of John's stuff is too
big. But maybe Brice has something downstairs that'll fit you better." He
is pushing back up from the chair though, moving over and into one of the
bedrooms.
"Nah,
not unless you do something stupid," Travis answers, patting his sword
hilt again. "Tch, it better be the last time you get yourself tossed into
prison. What the hell were you doing getting /caught/ in the first damned
place?" His gaze goes to Tomite for a moment and he smirks. "Tch, you need to have something
knocked loose or knocked out.. maybe it'd knock out some of that idiocy." He'll drop that for now. "You do need something else, but I'd
have to go get my things from Nicholas' place, and I don't know if that
stubborn woman put things away on me."
She has this bad habit...
Kenny
appears to just want to humor people at the moment, probably because his head
hurts so much. "This time around? Oh never mind.. I'm Kenkichi Sakurai.
Awh hell, just call me Kenny." He sits up a little more as some of the
dizziness dies down and he can actually consider looking around more without
the possibility of accidentally puking. "Er, I'm about 5'10"."
he says distractedly, then asking Chase, "Who's John?" Now there's a
loaded question. A glare directed at Namame seems almost like old times as he
growls out. "I crashed the damn get away car, stupid rush hour traffic.
Dammit.." He rubs his head again. "Can't even think why I was stupid
enough to do all that in the first place now." The terrible rage and
irrationality that so ruined his youth seem so.. out of place to him now.
Brice
shuts his mouth as he's about to say something, giving Travis a glance that
definitely asks 'Does he not remember?' - and then goes on because it's obvious
he doesn't. "I'm surprised you could get anywhere in rush hour traffic
here /without/ crashing your car. You're a little shorter, but you could probably
fit in my stuff - Give me a minute." And Brice disappears out the door,
closing it so any nosey neighbors will have a deterrent, and heads downstairs
to raid his closet.
Chase
returns a little later, with a pair of sweets draped over his arm and tossed towards
Kenny. The pants will will more than likely be a little small on the other guy
though. "It's something" Flickering a glance to Travis, he rolls his
eyes, but doesn't say anything. Getting pretty pointless anymore to even argue.
So, the teenager slumps back into the chair again, one leg draping over the arm
of it. "Kenny? So, how'd you end up in jail to begin with? You mentioned a
car chase last night. I want all the details." He could use some pointers
next time he decides to go out and steal a car. But then Brice is scooting off
to close Kenny instead, "His stuff would probably fit better anyway."
Travis
shrugs at Brice, though the look he gives Kenny is pure humor. "Got your ass caught is what you did,
and John is the man that was your imposter. Don't worry, he's not a problem
anymore." The crashing of the
getaway car is given a laugh as he shakes his head. "The Yin, but we'll explain that once you've got your head
straight." That is /so/ strange coming from this particular seishi.
"Tch, in prison."
Kenny
has not been able to recall /anything/ of his past life till about a few days
again, coincidentally or perhaps not in conjunction with the death of John.
"Hey, I made it all the way out to Long Island before they cornered
me." he says slightly miffed as the conversation takes on a nearly surreal
quality. Ever try to take a car over the 59th St. Bridge in rush hour? It's
amazing he didn't end up in the river instead. He eyes Chase and his curiousity
with a raised brow. "Details? Feh. I was..." Being incredible
irrational. "Out on a lark. Jacked a car, the cops chased, busted a few
heads, you know. It's not important is it?" Assaulted a police officer,
resisted arrest... that gets you many many years in jail. Glancing at Travis
again, he frowns. "The who? Er.. yeah, prison. Hey, Riker's is no cakewalk
ya know." Good thing he's not a pretty boy. >.>; "Figures it
was the only time they'd ever caught me." Mmm..maybe he shouldn't have
said that.
Brice
comes back, two old but decent pairs of jeans, two nondescript t-shirts, and a
couple pairs of socks draped over one arm (all of it clean), shaking his head
at the irony of the situation. "I could so get fired for this..."
Hell Brice, get over it - you're gonna need to when dealing with an escaped convict
for a seishi buddy. Just don't let it slip around the boss. "Try these on
- might be a bit loose, but that's better than tight." He folds the
clothes into a roll and drops them in Kenny's lap, stepping back to stand
somewhat in proximity to Chase, studying the situation again. "The only
time they ever caught you?" Brice heard that as he opened the door.
"How many times have you done stuff that could get you thrown in
jail?" Good lord, he may have to bail him out repeatedly if he's still
doing it O.o
"This
was his place. I've... sort of been living here with him," Chase adds.
Granted, he's probably only slept here a handful to times, and not at all since
John's death. Helps when you've got an aniki's couch to crash on downstairs
and.. well... a certain miko before that. The teenagers eyes light up at
Kenny's words. Oooooh. These sound like fun stories to learn about in the
future. Now /this/ is a role model. He is quickly adding, "You know, you
can stay here now. Take John's room. Just don't mind the mess." He sorta
trashed it looking for clues the other day. "And if you need a new ID, I
know a guy downtown that makes really good ones. I can set you up."
Travis
nearly facepalms. "You did
/WHAT/?! ....and they call me the psycho, I swear I wonder about that
judgment.." He's having such a
good day, really, and Tomite's expression?
"Saa.. Inami, you better not tell Tomite these things. He's a pup
that hooks onto the leg of anything that might get his ass into trouble. He
thinks it's exciting, but he doesn't have the sense to think that he's going to
get his ass killed and not be around to protect his miko. I'm even starting to
feel sorry for Hikitsu... and don't take that to heart, because I still hate
you," is said to the patch wearing seishi. "New ID.. Just you keep your ass out of trouble this time,
ne? I've got enough on my hands with that stubborn woman. I don't need to add
bailing you out to it."
Kenny
takes the clothing with thanks, probably just dying to get out of the prison
issue jumper. "Get fired for what?" He asks, not really thinking
about the question as he eyeballs the bathroom. Still there's something about
Brice's inquiry that gets his paranoia up. "What, I don't keep count how
many times I've done stuff. Just happens." Right. "Does it matter?
What you some sort of cop or something?" XD The light in Chase's eyes
makes him just a little uneasy, but he grins back at him. "Pish, I know a
few guys who'll do the same, but needs hard cash up front ya know. Funny thing
about jail is that ya don't exactly get to keep creds on hand." Travis's
outburst gains him such a look from Inami as he starts to get up off the couch,
a hand keeping hold of it as if he weren't sure whether his head'll start
spinning again. "Look, I said I hadn't done anything..quite that notable
till then. Just a lot of fights and shit ya know?" No arrests at least?
"Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!"
It's The Voice again. Run Chase, run! "NO MORE STEALING CARS! I still have
to beat you to a pulp for that anyway, don't make it worse! Trav, you still up
for holding him? And don't worry, I hate you too." It's just the way
things are. Seishi brothery luv abounds in this group, don't it? Brice shakes
his head, folding his arms and giving a characteristic sigh-groan. "You
won't be bailing him out, anyway. I will. I'll be escorting him to the damn
cell and filling out the paperwork more likely than not. Hellllllll..." He
sigh-groans again, pushes his hair out of his face, and nods. "I'm being
hired in the NYPD, I'll be Lee's partner - Lee Pelham, another one of us,
sorry. Detectives investigating all the freaked-out shit that's been going on,
but detectives still make arrests. So see, I could get fired before I'm really
hired, and yet I'm doing this anyway. Fate loves screwing with me. Nice to meet
you, though, and please try not to make me have to arrest you." It's the
last thing he wants, of course - damn you fate, damn you! "Anyway,
where're you from before this?" Maybe not the most auspicious of meetings,
but at least things are out in the open?
Chase
blinks over to Travis, and then promptly slumps back in the chair, managing to
sink into it deeper, and deeper, and deeper. So, instead of protesting the
argument, he mutters, "You two need to try to kiss and make up
again." Slump further. Cling to chair. And now Brice is digging into him,
and he really isn't all that surprised. "It is a useful talent now. You
never know when we might need to get away in a hurry and there isn't anyone to
portal nearby. Trust me on this. You'll be thanking me in a pinch." But
then he is straightening, looking back at Brice, "Yeah, I heard about this
from /Mina/. Lee's partner. How do you think that's going to go?"
Travis
shakes his head, giving Tomite a look that just screams that he thinks the boy
is being irresponsible. "How many
times.. This is bad. We're going to have to do a lot to make sure you don't get
picked up again, because it's damned hard to disguise a finger print. Hikitsu
is given a nod. "Hai, I'll hold
him. You get him first, and if that don't work, I get him." But he's done with that, because there are
other things to consider, like trying to smack Tomite in the knee with his
sword for his remark. "It was to get Hatsui to laugh, pup, and before you
start talking about kissing and making up, you better stop to think who you've
been trying to kiss and make up with. ...and Hikitsu is working with the
hentai. Smack him in the back of the head when you get the chance, ne? Inami?
You don't just go out to get yourself into trouble for no good reason, so why
do it in this lifetime?"
That
whole oh hell feeling waves over Inami as he turns and stares at Brice.
"You /are/ a cop?! Kisama!" He swears and nearly flops back onto the
couch as he tries to get his head around the idea that the guy isn't gonna haul
him back to jail right off the bat. "Erm... before Riker's Island you
mean? Hell, I was living on the upper east side." He shrugs a bit.
"Till my parents threw me out anyway. We never got along anyway... Wait,
did you say Pelham?" A hand goes up to his forehead this time. "Oh
figures." Guess who was one of the arresting officers that one time. At
least it's not the guy he assaulted? Blinking as he looks back at Namame again,
he frowns a little. "Huh? What do you mean? I've.. always had a temper
problem." Which is so not like Inami from the past who was cool as a
cucumber under pressure and at worse just a prankster.
"Chase,
you mention that one more time and I'm pounding you /here/ and /now/, got it?
And I'll freeze your feet to the floor so fast you won't even be able to
breathe straight much less get away." Brice does kinda have the upper hand
on Chase in the using-the-powers-to-immobilize-people department. Just ask
Namame. "And thank you Trav, hit him as much as you want. I'll try and
keep Lee in line - Cat thinks I have a chance, at least. Yes, I am a cop, or
will be, but I'm /not/ turning you in." Gee, can we say 'social anathema'?
"I flatly refuse to turn in a fellow seishi unless I know the whole
story." Actually, Brice is pretty impressed that he got out. It's one of
those '*blink* Well done' things; Rikers isn't that stingy on security.
"And a lot of times not even then, as it'll probably involve oni anyway,
and it'd just be more satisfying to put them in prison." Brice glances at
his watch and groans. "But I've gotta go - Kenny, change or stay here 'til
we can get you some other clothing, Chase, you can raid the fridge if you want
to feed yourselves in case there's nothing here, and Trav... I really hate to
ask this, but try to keep him in line?" And, leaving it deliberately
unclear as to which 'him' is in question, Brice nods, turns, and walks out the
door - probably going to go bang his head against a wall and curse fate at the
top of his lungs. If they're lucky they'll hear him through the floor.
Chase
is already dragging his legs up and away. Poor, abused furniture. Not going to
last long among seishi. He waits until Brice is gone, giving the man a farewell
wave and something of a nod in understanding. Once the door is closed, he
speaks, "It's like I'm the Genbu whipping boy or something. And here you
people blame me for going and getting involved with a Yin -who isn't a Yin
anymore according to Mina. She told me they had forsaken her." Now if he
could only find the woman. "Yeah, all we've got up here are some cookies,
I think. Not much in the fridge, but they've sometimes got stuff
downstairs." Can you tell that Chase just eats at everyone else's place.
"Saa..
Inami? You getting into trouble like that? You never had a temper problem
before, maybe a few pranks here and there, but nothing like getting your ass
thrown into prison. You .. aw hells, if the Yin were hiding you, they had to
hide your memories, ne?" Travis
/can/ connect the dots, even if he couldn't connect the hit to Tomite's
knee. "Hai, Hikitsu, I'll do
that." Doesn't matter which he
meant, he wasn't specific. "Tch,
whipping boy. You must like the spanking, because you keep going back for more.
Doesn't matter if she's theirs or not anymore. It's not that she was Yin, you
idiot, it was that she got you out to /steal cars for fun/. Tch, let me tell
Ash about this, she can chide you or smack you with the skateboard. You'll make
Takiko proud, Tomite, no doubt about it. And if you're hungry, I'll order something.
Can't raid my fridge, damned oni burned my place out before I killed him."
Kenny's
escape from Riker's would probably look like a scene out of some early Jet Li
movie. "Thanks man." he says to Hikitsu sincerely if a little
confused. Starting to head to the bathroom, he just shakes his head gingerly.
"I'd kill for a pizza. Uh, not literally in case ya'll were wondering.
After the slop I've been eating for the last year, anything'll be great."
Travis is stared at again, get the feeling he'll do that alot? "You're
gonna have to explain this Yin thing.." At least he's sort of accepted
being called Inami. Either that or he's just shell shocked and too numb to
argue this time. Disappearing into the bathroom, the water can be heard running
and it doesn't take him too long. Longer than he'd do it in prison though.
Teaches ya to get your ass covered again real fast. ;) Emerging afterwards in
borrowed clothing, Inami looks a damn sight better, still a little rough around
the edges, but not so strung out or.. thuggish.
Chase
finds it wise to refrain from mentioning the other suggestions about what they
were going to do that evening. If they think stealing cars is bad... But he is
immediately ducking his head as soon as Ash is mentioned. "You /really/
don't have to get her involved, you know. Get off my case." He'd just
assume that Takiko stay blissfully ignorant about all of this stuff. Travis is
eyed again, with something of a smirk, until he glances after where Kenny has
gone.
Travis
pulls out his phone to order, stowing it away once that's done. "Hai, we'll explain it, but we have to
work things out for you first. We have trouble, and four other gods on the
other side with their own warriors, oni, who want to summon with their miko and
bind our gods away." Chase is
given a shake of his head. "Saa..
you wet behind the ears pup, you honestly think she'd want you out there doing
that? Our miko's tough, and she's smart, but she can't do this on her own. She
needs seishi, not kids running around looking for a thrill and doing anything
to get it. You keep it up and you're damned right I'm going to tell her,
Tomite, and you're making Hatsui worry, too."
Kenny
just listens with a sort of frazzled expression but seems to mull it over
rather than just going with the 'they are all nuts not just Travis' routine.
Toweling off his long hair, he feels a heck of a lot better though the gunshot
wound probably does need to be rewrapped. "Okay, eight gods, oni..demons?
Binding gods. Sure.." @_@ "It'll make more sense in the morning I
hope." The convict looks over at Tomite and actually sides with Namame.
"Cheap thrills earned me 10 years at Riker's dude. I don't honestly
recommend it. You want a wild time, there are other ways to get it without
involving the cops." Not as many, but there are things.
"Hey,
that's enough of the guilt-trip already," Chase grumbles, flickering a
look to Travis. "I get the picture. Maybe if I had a chance to mess around
with oni too, instead of getting whacked on the head with pans..." He
trails off though, simply letting conclusions to be drawn about where he was
going with that one. He glances over as Kenny rejoins them, adding,
"You'll figure it all out eventually. Took me a little bit too. Anana's
pretty good at explaining it all." And then comes the scowl at now being
advised by Inami.
Gang up
on Tomite! Travis is very glad to have Inami back, indeed. "Tch, it don't make sense even now. The
enemy's the enemy, but we can't go hunting them down, so we have to wait." The first aid kit is dug back out again and
he gestures toward the arm. "Look,
we'll sort it out once you've had something to eat, ne? Something's gotta get
that brain of yours moving again. Tomite? It's not a guilt trip if it's all
true. You want to go out after oni? Great, go, but ask Hatsui what kind of
shape I came back in, ne? These things aren't like those Kutouese bastards we
killed during the war. They're powerful, and this one wielded fire, or hadn't
you noticed the smoke damage?"
Kenny
might not remember a whole heck of a lot, but there's something oddly familiar
and in a way reassuring when he settles down by Namame to let him bind the
wound. "Yeah, okay. I think.. well I think this is nuts, but somehow it
sounds..right." He sighs, shaking his head though wincing a little at the
motion, his head hurts still after all. "Don't hit so hard next time, eh?
It's Tomite who's got the thick skull." That might even sound familiar to
them too. "Hmm, going out after guys who can..wield fire? Shit, at least
don't go alone."
And is
it any wonder he started seeing Lexie? At least she didn't ride him all the
time like... never mind. "Been there. Don't that, Travis. Or did you
forget what I looked like when I brought you home with me? It isn't a good
fight unless you get a little scruffed up." Chase flickers a glance to
Travis, smiling faintly. "Hey now, don't give him licence to smack me with
his sword next time around." He is pushing up to stand though, stretching
as he does so. "You can take the other room though. Feel free to, Kenny.
Might as well. And its... good to have you with us." He looks at Kenny for
a long moment, frowning just the slightest in consideration, but in the next
moment his proverbial crooked smile returns. "Don't keep Travis up too
late. He needs his beauty sleep, or he'll really be a grouch in the
mornings." Even more so, that is. And then the boy starts for one of the
bedrooms.
Travis
finishes binding the wound as the pizza arrives, and he pays for that before
shaking his head at both of them. "I've
told Uruki this, and Hikitsu and I even agreed on it. ..and at least I had someone with me, Tomite. You got your ass
kicked on your own. Tch, grouch, you act like sleep's gonna make me tell you
you're doing alright. You gonna stay here, then? No running off until we get
things figured out?"
Kenny
says nothing cuz he's attacking the pizza like a starving man just out of the
slammer... No need to explain that one right? "Didn't expect..all the
help. Thanks. And sorry about trying to mug you for clothes." He wasn't
trying to mug anyone for money at least? After this though, he's probably gonna
nose around that other bedroom and wonder who the heck this John was all about
before taking another long nap.
