AOL Tricks
Have you seen people type in blank lines in chat, and send blank IMs, but
never knew how to do that junk? Here's your shot.

To Send a Blank Chat Line:
Hold ALT, press 0160 as separate keys, then hit enter.
To Send a Blank Chat Line 2:
Hold ALT, press 22 and hit enter

To Send a Blank Chat Line 3:
Hold "ALT" and press 6
(The first time you use this trick, you'll get a triangular box,
send it and do the trick again)

To Send a Blank IM:
Do as above with an IM, or put </S.> in an IM (without the period, the period is there so your broswer doesn't interpet it as a command.
To Sign On As A Ghost:
1. You Must Be Signed Off.
2. When you are Signed Off, Go to The Mail Menu, and Click "Setup Flashmail".
3. Choose "Expert Setup".
4. Hit The "Select Names" Button.
5. Put in the password for the screen name you are going to sign on as a ghost with.
6. Click The "Activate Session Now" Button.
7.When The Menu comes up, check The "Sign Off When Finished" Box and click continue.
8. Sign On As Normal, But Hit Cancel Right Before You Completely Sign On (While it says Checking Password).
9. Sign On Normally Again.
10. You Should Be A Ghost Now (Send An IM to Yourself To Check).
* NOTE *: That trick doesn't work anymore, but it's a classic trick... I need to post it.
Sign On As A Ghost #2:
1. Click Setup On the Buddy List Window.
2. Click on Privacy Prefrences
3. Click on Block All Members
4. On the bottom of the Privacy Preferences Box,
click on Apply to Instant Messages and Buddy List.
5. Click Save, Close the box and your a "Ghost".
To roll dice:
Type "//roll-sides(how many sides)-dice(number of dice)". This sometimes annoy the crap out of people.
To clone someone in a chat room:
This is a very simple trick, to do it though, you need to be on the Master Screen Name of your account. The Master Screen Name is the first name you chose when you first signed up for your account. This cloning method is done by substituting a letter of someone's Screen Name with another letter that looks identical to the original. The two letters that can be used are a capitol i and a lowercase L. If you type them, somewhere on AOL, you will notice they look exactly the same. So, find a person who you want to clone, lets says there Screen Name is KMCornell (KMCornell). You would make a Screen Name of KMCornell (KMCorneLI), substitusting the lowercase L with the upper case i. To create a Screen Name, go to Keyword: Names then double click on Create a Screen Name.
Kill the Hourglass:
Click the the AOL Icon in the very upper-left hand corner, and hold it. Drag it Help, the About America Online. Click OK, and you're pointer is back. If you try to execute a large command before the first one is done, AOL may freeze.
Weird Chat Message:
Type "=q" in the chat (no quotes). This is a host command, so you get an error.
More Weird Messages:
Type "//" in the chat (no quotes). This appears to be a switch of some kind.
Members Room Bust:
Go to a room, click List Chats, click Member Rooms, click Find Room by Name, type the room name, click find, highlight the room, hold enter. This doesn't kick anyone out of the room, instead it tries to enter the room at a VERY fast rate, and it get the next available space in the room. The number of tries per second/minute depends on your connection.
Private Room Bust:
1. Go to Favorite Places, click Add Favorite Places, for the Place Description type the room name, for the Internet Site Address: aol://2719:2-2-"Room Name" (change Room-Name with the name of the Private Room you want to go to). 2. You can also click on the Go To menu, Edit Go To menu, pick a slot. In the slot type aol://2719:2-2-"Room Name". Then afterwards Press Ctrl and the # slot you chose, repeatedly. 3. You can send a link to yourself if you are signed on as a guest. To send a link to yourself, type in an IM <a href="aol://2719:2-2-Room Name">Text </a>.
Another Way To Clone:
Using a Hex Editor in Waol.exe, rename the first, and only the first "AOL Frame25" to "AAA AAAAAAA" (This can only work using AOL 3.0 For Windows 95 [32 bit] on a TCP/IP connection). Besides AOL 3.0 for Windows 95, you will need another version of AOL for Windows 95 (32 bit). After you have made the modifications in Waol.exe, open the unmodified AOL. While it is loading, quickly open the modified version of AOL. Sign on with the unmodified version, with one Screen Name, then sign on again with the other modified version of AOL using a different Screen Name. *Note* you MUST be signing on AOL via a TCP/IP connection or this will not work. If you don't know what a TCP/IP connection is, forget this trick because you don't have one. This is one of the more "advanced" tricks, or it seems if you are a beginner. Don't try this trick if you don't understand it.
To Read a Link:
Highlight the link. Hold CTRL. Then hit C, then N, then hit V. Double click on the link.
To type like this in IMs (type):
This is called strike writing. At the beginning of your message, type <s.> (omit the period). Type your message. Then type </s.> (no period). If you don't type the </s.>, the other person's writing is like that too.
How to type one letter at a time in IM's:
Type </html><sup>S</sup>u<sup>P</sup> then send it. To increase the effect cut and paste it in the IM box. You can change the "S" "u" and"P" to anything you want. If you want more letters just keep adding the <sup></sup> and putting letters in the middle. Make sure you add the "/" in front of "html" or it won't work.
IM CLONE:
First cut and paste the person's name in to your message box. Next change the color of the person's name from RED to Blue. Then press enter about 7-10 times in front of the name(so the name drops down). Next type the message after the person's name. Finally press send.
To make your name come up cool in an IM:
Type about 1½ lines of text. Then highlight the text and click your right mouse button. Then Justification and choose Full. Send it. If you don't have a space in your name it will make your name have big spaces between each letter. If you do have a space in your name then it will make half of it on one line and the other halp on the next line.
Cool Scroll:
Type <H1.> <H2.> or <H3.> in front of every word (no periods).
