If Only Tears Could Bring You Back To Me

If only tears could bring you back to me If only love could find a way What I would do what I would give If you returned to me Someday, somehow, someway If my tears could bring you back to me

Jessie and James stood in awe.

“He just aid, ‘go with us’ and that was it?” James asked.

The broken-hearted rocketeer slowly nodded his hung head. After standing there, Butch slowly walked in to the building and down the hall to his room.

He slowly opened the room door labeled 752. Seven-hundred-fifty-two. Had there been 752 deaths before him?

What lay before him broke his heart. Every thing in this room reminded him of his lost love. Cassidy and Butch had shared the same room.

He just stood there in the doorway. Footsteps came form behind him. Jessie or James.

Butch slowly dragged himself to his bed and grabbed something from a bedside table. He sat on his bed and looked at the object. It was a picture of him and Cassidy. It brought tears to his eyes.

“Butch?” James asked now standing in the doorway.

“What do you want?” He asked harshly.

James stood for a minute and then said: “I’m sorry what happened.”

“Uh.” Butch grunted, still looking at the picture. At Cassidy.

“I know how you feel.” James began.

Butch snapped.

”No, you don’t.” He said slowly. His back was turned to James. “You don’t know what it feels like.” He turned around to face James. “To have someone you love die in your arms. You don’t know what it feels like to have the last words: ‘I love you. Goodbye.’ You don’t know what it feels like.” His voice broke. you don’t know what if feels like to say you love someone and then the your last moment together…” A single tear ran down his cheek. “…Your last moment together is so short you wish you had one more minute… No, you have no idea what it feels like to lose the person you love most.”

James was taken back by this. He had never heard but more than one sentence form Butch.

“I… I…” He began.

Butch once again resumed looking at the picture.

Jessie walked in. She saw the hear broken Butch staring into a picture frame and James standing in aghast at the door.

"Butch." She said, sitting on the bed.

He didn't respond but still gazed at the picture. It was of him and Cassidy. She had her arm around his neck, rubbing her knuckles on his scalp whereas he was giving her bunny ears. Both were smiling.

"Cass…" He whispered.

Jessie slowly got up and walked out of the room. James followed.

-

"He sure is taking it hard." James said.

"Yeah." Jessie commented.

-

Butch stared into Cassidy's eyes. They ere a deep, rich purple. Full of life. No. Not life, love. They were full of love.

He slowly rose from the bed and set the picture down and searched through his dresser drawer for a clean uniform. He found one.

Butch walked into the bathroom and turned on the water for the shower. He let it run awhile.

He began to remove his gloves. He stared into his bare hands. They were much larger than Cassidy's. Her's were slender.

He sighed and stripped himself form his clothes and took his shower, thinking deeply.

Butch stepped out and dried himself with a towel and put on his clean uniform.

He slowly walked to the cafeteria. When he arrived Butch got a cup of coffee and sat down. He was in bad shape. His face was pale and his eyes were hollow.

-

Jessie and James walked around looking for Butch. They found him, in the cafeteria staring into space, muttering to himself, drinking coffee. Everyone was gone accept for the three rocketeers.

"Butch." Jessie began walking over to him, James followed.

"Right in my arms." Butch muttered to himself. He stared into space, forgetting the cold cup in his hands.

"What?" James asked walking up behind him.

Butch stood up, cup in hand.

"I said…" He began slowly, voice calm, too calm. "That she died in my arms." He said, up in James' face, then throwing down the coffee cup and walking swiftly out of the cafeteria.

- Butch leaned up against the wall. "Cass… Why'd you do this to me?" He cursed, running his hand through his hair. "I can't live without you." "Hey Butch!" James yelled Jessie behind him. "Get up and get going! We have to capture a Pikachu!" "I'm coming." He said, getting up. He did not look at Jessie or James.
