And She was Reborn

Butch gently laid Cassidy down in the soft grass. He could hear the faint sound of sirens in the background.

"Butch," Cassidy whispered, smiling. She lifted up her hand and touched his face.

Butch gently touched her hand.

"Shhh," He whispered, letting her hand down. "Save your strength."

She risked her life for mine. Butch though, tears running down his face.

Cassidy knew her time was short. She wiped Butch's tears away.

"I love you..." Cassidy whispered, voice beginning to fade.

It began raining. Butch's tears mixed with the rain.

"I love you too." Butch whispered, stroking his partner's blonde hair.

This is it. Butch thought. She's leaving me.

Butch took Cassidy in his arms. He gave her a passionate, loving kiss.

They shared their first, and last kiss together. Butch set Cassidy back down. he knew her soul was in heaven.

The sirens were close.

Let them come. Butch thought crying. Let them come.

He cried. He cried for Cassidy. His partner. His soul mate.

Then the police came. Butch picked up his lifeless partner.

"You're under arrest!" Jenny yelled taking out handcuffs.

"No need." Butch said looking at Jenny "I won't resist."

Jenny watched in awe as the rocketeer slowly walked into the truck, never looking back.

"Uh..." Jenny said, still wondering why he had gone so easily. "Take him away, I guess."

Butch sadly sat in the truck trying to revive his fallen partner.

"Come on Cass." He urged. "Come on. Don't leave me!"

It was no use. She was truly gone.

There was one last hope. Butch laid Cassidy down on the floor. he knelt beside her and prayed. Prayed that God would bring her back.

Suddenly Cassidy began to glow brightly. Butch backed away from her. She slowly began to rise in the air. Wings sprouted from her back. She opened her eyes. Cassidy was an angel.

"Hello Butch." She calmly said, glowing brightly.

"Cassidy," He whispered. Tears of joy ran down his face.

Butch couldn't believe it! His Cassidy, she was back!

"Cassidy, you're...You're and angel." He said sitting down sadly.

"Yes Butch." She said taking his hands in hers. "I've come back to you."

"But, how..."Butch asked.

"Shhh." Cassidy whispered. She placed her index finger on his lips.

Butch stood up and hugged Cassidy.

"Come on Butch," Cassidy said grabbing his gloved hand. " Remember what the boss says."

"Never… get… caught…" Butch said smiling.

Cassidy grabbed Butch's other hand and flapped her newly grown wings.

"Cassidy," Butch said looking up at her. " I love you."

"I love you too."
