This website is dedicated in loving memory of my mother, who loved the Lord with all her heart, and taught all of her children to love Him.

"Thank you, Mama, for planting those seeds in us so long ago,
and for living your life an outstanding testimony
of your faithfulness to Him.
I love you!"

~ November 27, 1919 - September 29, 1998 ~

Below are the words to a song that Mama wrote in 1943, after her mother-in-law had passed away. I remember hearing Mama sing this song countless times over the years, as I grew up. These same words were read at her own funeral in 1998.

Mother Dear Mother

Mother, dear Mother, to Heaven has gone
She left us down here in this world alone
But some happy morning, some wonderful dawn
We will see our dear Mother again.
Mother, she toiled those many long years
For her dear children, she prayed.
But now she has gone to Heaven
Up there with the angels to stay.
Mother-less children, be true to the Lord
And meet your dear Mother someday
And those who have Mothers, be kind to her now
For when she is gone, it's too late.

Here, too, are a couple of poems that have touched my heart recently, reminding me of Mama... the kind of woman she was, and the similarities mentioned of her final hours here on this earth.

A Christian Mother

God gave us many gifts,
but far above any other,
the loveliest gift He gives us
is the gift of a Christian Mother.
Her head bows over the Scriptures,
teaching children from God's Word.
Her hands are always busy
doing service for her Lord.
Whenever her children need her,
they know she's always there.
Her beauty's in the strength of faith
that she daily finds in prayer.
Her children love and bless her,
and in their lives we see
the lessons of the Saviour
that were taught at Mother's Knee.

He Only Takes The Best

God saw she was getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so He put His arms around her
and whispered, "Come with Me."
With tear-filled eyes we watched her
suffer and fade away.
Although we loved her deeply,
we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard-working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

The following lines are the words to a song that means alot to me. The song was played at Mama's funeral... chosen purposely by me, because it describes in almost perfect detail the circumstances of Mama's passing. The second verse is what I imagine Mama saying to us, in helping us deal with her death. I hope these words touch your heart, as they do mine.

Beyond The Grave

I've seen my dearest loved one
give in to darkest death.
A sadness filled the room
as she breathed her final breath.
She lived a life of pain,
but now she'll suffer no more;
for to be absent from the body
is to be present with the Lord.

Beyond the grave there's life everlasting.
There we'll live again, to face death's sting no more.
No more goodbyes, God will wipe the tears from our eyes.
There's no more dying beyond the grave.

"For years and years I've read about
this place called Canaan Land.
Let me tell you if I should leave this world
by way of death's dark hand,
I'll be in my brand new body,
so don't you weep for me;
for by the time I take my final breath,
I'll be kneeling at Jesus' feet."

Beyond the grave there's life everlasting.
There we'll live again, to face death's sting no more.
No more goodbyes, God will wipe the tears from our eyes.
There's no more dying beyond the grave.

A Letter For Mama

Dear Mama,

You were the best mother anyone could ask for. You were always there for us, ever-willing to make sacrifices so that we could have what we needed, always putting your children first and yourself last.

After you raised seven of your own children, when it was time to have that long-deserved and much-needed "peace and quiet", you took us in and raised yet two more children. Life was hard for you, because of that act of love. Your health was bad, and your nerves were often the same; but still, you kept at it and continued to raise us and love us as your very own. For that, you are the best mother we could ever have had, under any circumstances. And we'll always love you for it.

Although you cannot see or hear these words now, because you are finally at rest, and enjoying strolling the streets of Heaven, it is our wish to let the world know what a wonderful mother you were to us, and how much we appreciate all that you did for us.

We love you, Mama!

~your adopted children, Lois and Buck

Thank you, MeMeAnn, for the beautiful daffodil graphics, which caught my eye and brought back a wonderful memory of my Mother, who brought me a bouquet of daffodils on my 6th birthday.
