Note: These pictures are from the popular police series, Detective Investigation Files (parts 1-3). Michael Tao Dai Yu and Kenix Kwok Ho Ying play the lead couple in the story, Dai Yung and Jessie.

In the first part, Dai Yung, a criminal inspector, meets Jessie, a smart, pretty reporter. DIF1 outlines their tumultous courtship until they finally become an item at the end of the series.

In DIF2, Dai Yung and Jessie's relationship is further strained by the arrival of Carmen (Amy Kwok) who professes love for Dai Yung. Of course, he loves Jessie most. Eventually, Dai Yung and Jessie get married, but Jessie is met with an accident on their wedding day, and she gets amnesia. She forgets all about Dai Yung, and in the end, she leaves Hongkong with her family.

In DIF3, Jessie still has amnesia but Dai Yung is still waiting for her. Their relationship is bound for even more trials, especially after the arrival of En Tong (Monica Chan) who falls in love with Dai Yung. But, to the joy of all DIF fans everywhere, Jessie gets her memory back in the end of DIF3, and she and Dai Yung live happily ever after.

Anyhow, the best part (IMHO) about DIF is the love story. In DIF2, Dai Yung gives Jessie a crystal rose, as he professes undying love for her.

Dai Yung: Fresh (real) flowers will die in a few days. The flowers I drew on paper, the paper will turn old and yellow in a few years. But this crystal rose will never change. Just like how I feel for you.

In my first Ranma 1/2 fanfic, Waiting For You, Shinnosuke gives Akane a crystal rose, and the dialogue is also almost the same. For WFY readers, it's painfully obvious that the scene between Shinnosuke and Akane is inspired by this DIF scene. =)

IMHO, it is the best and sweetest and most romantic scene, DIF or otherwise.

Here are the pictures featuring the "crystal rose". Sorry, but the rose just wasn't focused long enough for us to have a clearer view of it.

***Note: For WFY readers, I would have prefered it if it were *Ranma* and Akane's scene, not Shinnosuke, but there just wasn't the right time or opportunity for Ranma to "profess undying love," at least not in WFY, you understand. =)

Also, if you are interested, here is a video clip of the "crystal rose scene" in DIF2.
