Summation Notation
If we let X represent the number of months worked and Y represent monthly income, then we can refer to individual scores on X and Y using subscripts: X1=3, Y1=200, X2=2, Y2=300 and so on.
Suppose we want to sum the five scores on variable X to determine total number of months worked by the five individuals.
