Danielle’s cool, completely understanding. She understands about girl fans and all that, and about me being away a lot of a time. It’s hard, but if it’s meant to be, it should last.
Does she ever get jealous?
No, not at all. (Pauses.)
Did you have second thoughts about making your relationship with Danielle public?
I thought about it, and in the end I decided everyone would find out eventually anyway and it would become a bigger thing if it’d been kept secret. I thought we might as well just let it out now and have nothing to hide in the future.
Do you think having a girlfriend puts your fans off?
Well, I told everyone I had a girlfriend right from the beginning, and I’m not being big headed or anything, but I was watching a thing about the ‘ Most Fanciable Males In Pop’ on MTV recently and I was at number 7! (Scott was at number 4) Things like that prove people aren’t really bothered by it.
Does the fact that both of you are famous make the relationship more easier or more difficult?
Definitely more difficult. Whereas we used to spend everyday together and not really have that many arguments, now we don’t see each other very much and we’re having loads of arguments! (Yippee! Split up, split up!) I put the arguments down to added stress and being away from each other, all that stuff.
Is travelling constantly a big problem?
Being away for a month at a time is really hard. It’s just like you’re living on the phone the whole time. I don’t even want to get into the size of my phone bills! They are big time! (Eh?) And I won’t use hotel phones anymore, because once I was on the phone for, like, ten minutes and I got a bill for £150! (I doubt that Abs’...)
What are your plans for the future together?
I’m not even thinking about marriage at the moment. Me and Danielle just gonna take each day as it comes and see how it goes.
Actually, she does get jealous - about clothes! I get loads of clothes and she goes, “ Oh, that’s nice” and I say, “Yeah, it’s mine!” Hahahaha! Actually, we swap jumpers all the time!
