Another Filler Post
Still getting rid of old links from my very lengthy Favorite Places files, I ran across the link to my old Earth 2 group at ICQ. Since I abandoned that group almost two years ago because of it's limited posting requirements, I thought it would be eliminated by the powers that be at ICQ after the inactivity there stretched out for over two years. Not only is the group still going, it has a couple of new members, and it's being called one of the "Longest Running" groups at ICQ!
The bboard had changed over the past two years, allowing for more activity within the group. So, anyway, I went in and created some polls about the show, simple ones, just to see what kind of hits I'd get. Wouldn't you know, the polls had barely gone up and Bev found them and gave the first answers after mine!
The group is called New2 Earth2 and it's the place where I first met Bev and Richard and we became online friends. It's also where we wrote the original drafts of the Danziger stories. The old messages are gone, alas, so those drafts no longer exist. You have to be a member of ICQ and have an ICQ number in order to vote in the polls, but if anyone besides Bev is interested the link is here:

LOL! Well, I still make use of my ICQ number in a lot of ways. I'm a Sailor Moon fan, too, and since you guys have turned me into a big Trekkie, I still go chat there with fans from around the world of both of those shows. I've even gotten into the live action Sailor Moon venues they have in Japan. If you know what Sailor Moon was, then try to imagine a live action Saturday morning TV show (that started airing last fall) and a schedule of three to four musicals a year. Since 1993! I've seen the first 5 episodes of the series and five of the musicals. I'm hooked! I don't care if the actress who plays her looks like her long blond hair is made of yarn and the costumes are goofy! And i don't care that I don't understand a word of what they're saying! Sailor Moon forever! "Sailor Moon, make-up!" Those are some of the few English words you hear in the musicals!
Rob, I still wish you would start a chat room there for Earth2 fans. I would but I'm very bad at maintaining things like that. It might be easy for some, but I'm very computer illiterate in many ways and unless something is spelled out for me in vast detail, I'm a klutz. (I would love to do a blog like this or have a web page, but I just don't understand HTML and how to put things, pictures, links, on a page to make up a site.)
I talk to as many E2 fans as I do anyone else.
Or do a combination E2/Firefly chat room that we can access anytime. I think it would go over great.
Anyway, the Earth 2 polls were fun. Make up some more!

well I blew the dust off my old icq number and went over to check it out. the new message board is a loteasier to use and there doesnt sem to be a 1000 characterlimit to the messages anymore. i remember trying to post sectionsof the danz stories and havingthem rejected for too many characters and having to chop up what I wrote to get the message to go through or having to post it in two parts. EZboard was a better forum but too bad they had so much software trouble and did so many updates. halfthe time you couldn't get in to post because they were updating- again! i wonder if they still do that? haven't ben back to eitherplace since you closed the baords and went to yahoo.

I'm curious about the polls, but in the past I've never felt it was worth the time and trouble to download ICQ to my computer. I went to Yahoo to visit your groups (the ones listed on the sidebar) but Yahoo just asked for too much personal information in order for me to post at the boards. I haven't a clue what they use it for, but I'm not comfortable giving out that much personal info.
I was glad to see that I am able to read the posts at your boards and at the Earth2 Fanfiction group, too. I just can't post any comments.
I was able to read the messages at ICQ and as much as I wanted to participate in the polls, I don't really want to download the whole ICQ program just to do it.
I guess I'll sit this one out. :(

Sailor Moon is the Japanese anime, right? The five girls with super powers? Weren't they shown on the Cartoon Network a couple of years ago?

Yes, that's the show. I started watching them with my young cousins and got interested in the cartoons first, then went online and discovered the musicals. I was able to buy vcds of the cartoons and some of the musicals at various auction sites, and though all are in Japanese, they are still fun to watch. I haven't found any translations for the speaking parts, but the song lyrics are translated at many sites.

Hi, Kenneth. You don't have to download the whole program anymore unless you really want the video email, vid IMs and such.
Just hit the link above and when you get to the N2E2 homepage, click on the "Log In" button on the right and it will take you to a page where you'll see a button that says "Register Online." I believe all you need is a valid email address and ICQ will send you a number. As for asking personal info, I think it's still voluntary whether or not to give that information in your profile. In fact you don't have to give but the barest of details in your profile.
I joined ICQ back in '98 and then I had to download. But I didn't need all the frills and extras, so my boyfriend deleted the program from the computer, and we were still able to use our numbers to get to the groups and chats.

You and me both, man! I was expecting the link to lead nowhere, to a "web page cannot be found" screen and I had my cursor above delete ready to send another dead link off to hyperlink heaven. I sat there with my mouth open for several seconds before I started to laugh. Man, was I surprised! I still get email from CC, and Jen has sent me reviews of the stories at the w-page. They both know about the blog. If you want the email for either I'll send them to you.
