Po'on was a legendary leader from Taelon mythology. In many of the legends he is seen as the wise leader, unafraid of even Death. In an old fable, he goes before Death to find an answer...
'One day Po'on called to him a servant and told him to go into the market to purchase a vase, the servant left and a short while after returned in a horrible fright. Po'on asked why the servant was so afraid. The servant replied, 'I went into the market and saw Death, and he smiled upon me!" He then asked Po'on for leave to the farthest outpost in the empire, and Po'on agreed. The next day Po'on went into the market and asked Death why he had smiled upon the servant. Death replied, 'It was strange to see him here for I had an appointment with him on route to the outpost this morning." And surely enough, the servant had perished on his way to the outpost.'
