Write up by fenian mac in the irish club celticsimon (18/M/Ireland) 4/29/00 10:00 am Guys read this interssting point fenian mac made recently in another 'irish' club There would be loyalist threats but they have always had little backing and consist largely of crinimals engaged in drug dealing, as little as 5 - 10% are actually dumb enough to belive in their cause, granted this support may increase when Northern Ireland rejoins the Republic but they are and will remain a small force, the only reason they have not been wiped out already is because the British do not want to wipe them out, they have been useful in the past in dealing with Republicans unofficially. The IRA would see its cause as complete and even if the small crinimal element wishes to continue it would lose almost all its support because the majority of the IRA are made up of commited men to the Republics cause. I will finish replying to your ..eh rather different post by asking you this, the IRA see the Dáil today as the Free state forces during the Civil war and holds little if no loyalty to Leinster House until the 32 county Republic is set up. Now let me ask you this mate, what do you think the IRA would do if the Irish Republic said no to allowing Northern Ireland back even if it was the wish of the majority in Northern Ireland ? Instead of having the UVF and other small, crinimal based loyalist groups pissed at you whos support would eventually fade away anyways due to the simple fact the Unionist population continues to decrease, you would have the largest, best armed paramilitary force in Europe (the World ?) pissed at you
