Proposition

for

Financial involvement.

  1. Who is a suitable financier?
  2. Short explanation, the general scenario.
  3. Own background.
  4. The recuperation of investment, secondary winnings and overall views throughout this type of project.

1. Suitable financier.

The options are open, suggestions!?

Everything from active participation to "sleeping-partner" solemn economical interests.

As it is a small turnkey project with a humanitarian sense, the financier should be in the overall understanding that economical winnings above the set budgeting will not be possible. "Maybe something for an early-retired individual who wants a drastic change of life."

The active participating financier could be gaining a new way of life if he chooses to. Be able to actively contribute in a controversial manner. Create a "self-function" which in the most beneficiary way will satisfy the countryside and the poor population in the area. All with a minimal risk of the initial capital invested, and the proposed dividend/interest.

The part-time involved could do the books, import and export papers, spend 1-2 months per year working on the premises, follow-ups and other less practical work, for instance.

A sleeping partner's agreement could be another solution. But has to realise that the goal of the project is to hand over a well working co-op to some thirty to forty villagers and devoted individuals, 30-40% of the project is to be kept at the end of the 7 year project.

This could be a challenge, adventure or an economical multiplier towards the end of seven years. Thereafter it could give a private recreational haven for years to come, in an exotic and different surrounding.

2. General scenario.

A poor countryside, in a stabile country, economically and politically, south of the African equator. Like all sub-saharan countries the general lack of money creates a family/village orientated self sufficient way of life.

The fresh produce is very depending on the rainfall, but where water is available all year long, production could be maintained through the year. In the same country there is no domestic produce of frozen vegetable among others. The demand for suitable frozen goods are on the increase and what is available are all imported from South Africa.

The main crops grown are maize, tobacco and the odd vegetable, maize for food, tobacco for cash and the vegetables for both.

3. Myself and my background.

I'm 40 years old, Swedish married and have two kids. Have a practical mind and a building engineering degree plus a few years of economy study. Currently back to studies at Edinburgh University.

I worked 10 years as a plumber, studied to be an engineer, went to Africa after completion. Worked as technician, site- and contracts manager, for different companies, in several countries during a nine year-period. The local conditions and culture is therefor well known. Spent some of the following years in Sweden and Norway as self-employed and thereafter we moved to Scotland.

4. Proposed scenario.

I will be brief in my scenario. If the proposal is of interest, a more detailed outlay including a budget and a proposed plan of action will be presented.

During my years in this country I negotiated the rights to 10 acres of land alongside the lake. A central place (approx. 120 km to major urban areas). The land has easy access to all necessities i.e. water, electricity, rail, tarred roads. Furthermore there are a lot of villages and smallholdings along the main road.

The project was initiated during my years in the country. The plot is available and pre-ownership is established, and a minor stamp-fee has to be paid in, to get the deed.

With a three months planning stage, practical issues for staying in the country and workings towards a smooth and non-surprising start-up.

Initial costing is to aim for four buildings, basic freezer-units (a conventional and one liquid hydrogen), internal fittings and other connections some second hand trucks and smaller vehicles.

A total start-up and construction time of nine to fourteen months. A trail-production is possible to start after ten months.

In a full production, stage 1 will enable processing of seven hundred kilos of vegetables per day.

The supply to the factory is maintained by instructing the villagers how to grow, lend them seeds and fertilisers and guarantee them a price for the harvest. Right quantities and right support will assure supply and a desired mix of vegetables. To attract people further a mill is to be erected where all milling for private people is paid by bartering i.e. 10-15%. Irrigation assistance could be considered.

The initial marketing is only local, later on neighbouring countries could be considered.

With a fixed time plan the investment will be re-paid together with interest or profit sharing between year three and seven. The idea is that 60-70% of the establishment will be handed to the villagers in successions during the three last years. The remaining could be sold or kept for a director's post if desired.

Approximate input: £ 180,000 whereas 60% being cash and 40% bank guarantees or similar.
