Semi circular openings with a block, the top block swinging shut over
the bottom block, hinged on the left, the block then secured with a
metal bolt on a chain, thrust through the staple on the lower block,
over the hasp, swung down from the upper block. Very effective to stop

Binding Strap
A narrow eighteen inch strap, normally black, used for the binding of
hands behind the back. Guardsman of Gor pgs 237 and 274
Blindfold
Consists of three pieces, usually two rounded pieces of soft felt,
three to four inches in diameter, and the binding which usually
consists of two or more turns of a dark, thick, folded cloth, or
scarf, knotted behind the head. The blindfold is seldom used in the
transportation of slaves, the hood is more commonly used for this

Bracelets, Hook
Soft leather cuffs with locks and snaps; the snaps unlike the cuffs,
require no key, by means of the snaps the girl may be secured by the
locked cuffs, her hands fastened either behind her back, in front of

Bracelets, Slave
Handcuff type restraints used to restrain the wrists of slaves-usually
metal. Tribesman of Gor pg 156
Branding Rack
Made of metal, the girl is placed upright, then the rack locked on
her. Wrists are placed behind her, in the adjustable wrists clamps,
each on their vertical flat metal bar, which are screwed shut. Feet
are shackled on a rotating metal platform. The branding rack rotates
bringing the site be branded into view unencumbered. Explorers of Gor

Breeding Cell/Stall
Both female and the selected male are hooded, they are not permitted
to speak. The purpose is impregnation, this coupling is public with
the masters and others of official or non official capacity present,

Used to show slaves for sale at the house of Slavers and/or Slave
Auction Houses, fastened to the roof of the portico, others in tiers

They may be made of many different materials. In a cooler climate they

Dung Sack
Used to contain dung after it has been raked or collected, used as a

Fetters (slave bracelets of Torvaldsland)
Consist of curved, hinged bands of black iron, three quarters of an
inch in width and a quarter inch in thickness. On one of each of the
two curved pieces constituting a bracelet there is a welded ring; the
two welded rings are joined by a single link, about an inch in width,
counting both sides, each of which is about a quarter of an inch in

Four Chains
Wrists are joined by about eighteen inches of chain and similarly for
the ankles. Further each wrist is chained to the ankle. This
arrangement, produces the "four chains." Captive of Gor pg 42
Gag
A device secured in place with by a broad mouth covering strap, with
three smaller straps attached to it, one to secure the broad strap at
the upper lip, another to secure it across the mouth, pulling it back
between the teeth, and one to secure it at the chin. These straps are
then pulled back tightly and fastened; the top strap above the ears,
behind the back of the head, to the lower straps behind the back of
the head. The heavy rolled leather wadding that is thrust back behind
the teeth with the broad mouth covering strap, by design, expands thus
securing it in place, packing the entire oral orifice. Dancer of Gor

Garbage Death
Indigenous to the city of Port Kar, where a slave who has been
displeasing is bound naked and thrown into the canals of the city for

Hood
Parts of the hood; the leather ball, the strap attached at the front
of it, and the belt, with its double loop, on the outside, held in
place by the belt loops, at its opening. Some hoods are little more
than sacks, of canvas or leather, with drawstrings. A small padlock,
passes through two rings, the buckle ring and one of the small rings,

Iron Belt
This belt consisted of two major pieces; one was a rounded, fitted,
curved bar like waistband, flattened at the ends; one end of this
band, that on the right, standing behind the woman and looking
forward, had a heavy semicircular ring, or staple, welded onto it; the
other flattened end of the waistband, looking forward, had a slot in
it which fitted over the staple; the other major portion of this belt
consisted of a curved band of flat, shaped iron' one end of this flat
band was curved about, and closed about, the bar like waistband in the
front; this produces a hinge; the flat, U-shaped strap of the iron
swings on this hinge; on the other end of this flat band of the iron
is a slot; it fits over the same staple as the slot in the flattened
end of the left side of the bar like waistband. The belt is then put
in the woman in this fashion. The waistband is closed about her, the
left side, its slot penetrated by the staple, over the right side; the
flat U-shaped band of iron, contoured to female intimacies, is then
swung up on its hinge between her thighs, where the slot on its end is
penetrated by the staple, this keeping the part of the belt in place.
The whole apparatus is then locked on her, the tongue of a padlock
thrust through the staple, the lock then snapped shut. Kajira of Gor

Kurt
A stout whip, with a long handle, which might be wielded with two
hands, and five dangling, soft, wide lashing surfaces, each about a

Leash
Some fifteen feet in length. When used in leading, this amount of
length would not be used, but would be coiled in the grasp of the
master. The length is useful if the slave is expected to perform leash
dances, is to be bound with the leash, or if, it doubled at the
master’s end, it is to be used to train or discipline her. Magicians

Lock Gag
Leather and metal; curved metal bars rounded about a quarter of an
inch in diameter, fitted to individual girl by ratchet and pawl
arraignment, locks behind neck, cannot be removed, leaving slaves

Northern Yoke
Made of wood or bone, drilled in 3 places - 1 hole at neck, 1 hole at
each end strap knotted about wrist, passed through one end of hole
(usually the left first), through the hole at the neck, wrapped twice
about the neck, back through the hole at the neck, brought through the
end hole on the right and tied about the wrist. Beasts of Gor pgs

There are three separate irons, each a tiny letter not more than an a
quarter of an inch high, they mark a liar, thief, and traitoress.

Pleasure Rack
Made from wood, with wheels, levers, gears, pinions, joints, braces,
fitted sliding boards, notches and lock points, thus giving it the
ability to be adjusted into a variety of positions. The pleasure rack
has an aesthetic value. It serves two major purposes: 1) the
exhibiting and displaying of it's helpless prisoner; 2) to hold the

Post Strap/Harness
Slave is pulled to the post, close to it and facing it. The heavy
belt, with the ring on it, through which the loose post strap passed,
that strap looping the post and threaded through the belt ring, was
put about the belly, and buckled shut, tightly, behind the small of
the back. Able to move easily about the post but, given the post
strap, and the belt ring, can not be further than six inches from it.

1) Dominate the slave making her feel her womanhood, and it's
relationship to the male, and then, her belly ready, aching,
vulnerably aflame, helplessly stirred, you send her packing; 2) whip
the girl, then fling her to the ground, thrust her about, let her feel
the side of a foot, such things, and then when wished, kneel her, her

Ten inches of chain separated the ankles; the chain was fastened on

Slave Box
About four feet long and three feet wide, with a depth of perhaps
eighteen inches. It was of steel and opened from the top. In the lid,
at each, there was a circle, about five inches in diameter, of
penny-sized holes. It was locked shut, secured by two flat, steel
bars, perpendicular to its long axis, padlocked, in front, in place.

Slave Goad
Rather like the tarn goad, except that it is designed to be used as an
instrument for the control of human beings rather than tarns. Unlike
the tarn goad which has a simple on-off switch in the handle, the
slave goad works with both a switch and a dial, and the intensity of
the charge administered can be varied from an infliction which is only
distinctly unpleasant to one which is instantly lethal. The slave
goad, unknown in most Gorean cities, is almost never used except by
professional slavers, probably because of the great expense involved.

Slave Hobble
Consists of two rings, one for a wrist, the other for ankle, joined by
about seven inches of chain. In a right handed girl, it locks on the
right wrist and left ankle. When a girl kneels, in any of the
traditional positions of the Gorean woman, either slave or free, it is

Slave Hood
a leather hood having no opening for eyes, mouth or ears, covers a

Slave Sack
Made of leather, normally pulled up, over the head, and laced shut.
Confinement in the slave sack is, incidentally, a familiar form of

Sleen Death
A girl is stripped, each ankle bound widely apart to stakes, her
wrists also bound widely apart to stakes, her thigh is cut and blood
is smeared on her belly to draw the animal. This is done when there is

Stimulation Cage
An ornately barred, low ceiling cage, about five feet high, rather
roomy. The girl in the stimulation cage is not permitted to look into
the eyes of a male, not even a male slave. This is designed to make
her extremely conscience of males. Accouterments include: brushes,
perfumes, cosmetics, slave jewelry, heavy necklaces, armlets,
bracelets, and bangles. There is no clothing. There are cushions,
bowls of copper, and lamps of brass. There are surfaces of varying
textures: deep piled rug, satins, silk, coarsely woven cloths,
brocades, rep cloth, a tiled corner, sleen pelt, cloths woven of
strung beads, cloaks of leather and mats of reed. The point is to

Switch
Often used on a girl when she is guilty of minor indiscretions or tiny
misdemeanors. It is thought a fitting instrument for encouraging a
beauty to be more careful or zealous in her service. Kajira of Gor pg

Turian Slave Bar
Metal bar, with a collar at each end and, behind the collar, manacles
which fasten the prisoner’s hands behind his neck. Nomads of Gor pg

Snake Whip
Heavy coil, laced with wire and flecks of iron. Used primarily on male
slaves/captives. Marauders of Gor pg 105, Beasts of Gor pg 157 - 161
Yoke, Girl
Consists of a stout branch, about two inches thick, some five feet in
length, holes drilled in the center and near the extremities. Fits
behind the girl's neck, a long simple thong of rawhide fastens the
girl in place. Smaller yokes can be fashioned to secure a slave for
other purposes, such as enjoyment in the furs. An effective way of
securing a slave. Savages of Gor pg 281-282, Beasts of Gor pgs 196-197
Yoke, Stock
Normally a pair of hinged planks, with matched semi circular openings
in the planks. The head and wrists are aligned with the openings, the
planks then closed are either tied or locked shut. This stock yoke is
sometimes placed on a girl while she is on her back. If the planks are
sufficiently wide enough, the girl is unable to see the actions of the
Master, she can only feel it. Savages of Gor pg 282-283
Punishments for being displeasing
"This was unusual, however, for normally the Gorean Slave Girl sleeps
at the foot of her Masters couch, often on a straw mat with only a
thin, cotton-like blanket, woven from the soft fibers of the Rep
plant, to protect her from the cold. If she has not pleased her Master
of late, she may be, of course, as a
disciplinary measure, simply chained nude to the slave ring in the
bottom of the couch, sans both the blanket and the mat. The stones of
the floor are hard and the Gorean nights cold and it is a rare girl
who, when unchained in the morning, does not seek more dutifully to

"Any slave who displeases a Master or Mistress will be beaten,
Generally the beating will be in Relation to the offense, a light
beating for a small offense, other Masters or Mistresses on the other
hand will beat a slave almost to death for the slightest mistake."
Making Mistakes
"The discipline to which you will now find yourself subjected, I
suspect," I said, "will leave you in little doubt as to your bondage.
It will be unswerving, precise and exact. If you depart from the
narrow line of slave perfection by so much as a hort you may expect a
cuffing, or the lash." Book 18, p 75
The highly intelligent woman, incidentally, as would be expected,
learns her slave lessons, and that she is a slave, much more quickly
than the stupid woman. It takes some stupid women as much as two days
before they learn that they are truly in a collar. If a slave
continues to prove recalcitrant, of course, she gains nothing by this.
She will merely be disposed of. Book 18, p 116
Not Speaking Properly
"You seem very quiet," I said. "Perhaps your tongue has been removed,
or slit, for insolence." Book 18, p 129
A slave who cannot learn to talk properly may be punished by loosing
his tongue or having it mutilated.
Escaping Slavery
"Some who try to escape are killed by sleen on the prairie," said one
of the lads. "The others are trailed and brought back to the camp
where they are tied down by our women and, over three days, taught
that escape is not permitted."
"What is the penalty for a second attempt at escape?" I asked.
"Hamstringing," said one of the lads, "and then being left behind when
the camp moves." Book 18, p 125
Striking a Free Person
When one who is a slave strikes a free person the penalty is not
infrequently death by impalement, preceded by lengthy torture.
A slave is never to resist a Master or Mistress. a slave is to never
threaten a Master or Mistress. a slave is expected to bare his or her
throat for the Master or Mistress to easily kill them. Assassins of

Nothing is Private - Do not hide feelings
The absolute truth must be spoken to a Gorean master. It is forbidden
to a girl to hide her feelings. Page 346, Page 233, Captive of GOR
A slave is never to hide or hold any thing back from a Master or
Mistress. a slave has no rights, no privacy, a slave is a thing, a
possession, an animal a beast of burden, they are not allowed to think
private thoughts or have any hidden desires. Page 278, Page 639,

I looked down upon her. 'You are a wanton slave,' I said. She looked
up at me laughing, "A girl in a collar is not permitted inhibitions,"
she said. It was true, slave girls must reveal their sexual nature,
totally. Do they not do so, they are beaten.
A slave is allowed no inhibitions, a slave will do their utmost to
show their sexual nature UNLESS it pleases Master or Mistress any
Master or Mistress unless their actual owner has placed restrictions
on them.
Complaining and Correction
A slave will Never complain about a punishment, a slave will say
nothing, a slave may be punished at any time. a slave is always to
accept any punishment from any Master or Mistress who sees a slave
needs correction, a slave is to always obey absolutely all commands.

She did not know why she had been struck. In a sense there had been no
reason. One does not need a reason to strike a slave. But in another
sense, in the training situation, there has been a reason, that she
was subject to discipline, and that is could be meted out by the
master purely at his whim or caprice.
Eye Contact Restricted
A slave girl is often very careful about meeting the eyes of a free
man directly, particularly a stranger. They can be cuffed or beaten
for such insolence-Her brief garment was all she wore. It would have
no nether closure. Thusly on Gor are female slaves commonly garbed.

Sometimes masters, as a discipline for their beauties, have them go
naked in public, but with their tunic, or ta-teera, or whatever about
their neck or wrist. Book 24, p 477
A slave is not allowed to meet the eyes of a Master or Mistress. such
a thing implies that they are human and thus more than slaves. slaves
are chattel, property, considered as animals... very nice and loved
animals; but still animals.
Punishment May be chosen by ANY Master or Mistress
"Turn left here," I said to the girl. "Masters?" she asked, stopping.
"Left," I said. As she was free I did not demur to repeat a command.
Also, punishment for having to repeat a command is always at the
option of the master. For example, a command might not be clearly
heard, or might not be clear in itself, or might appear inconsistent
with the master's presumed intentions. Whether punishment is in order
or not is then a matter for judgment on the master's part. Book 25,

A Master or Mistress will punish a slave if they think the slave is
deliberately trying to be obtuse, a slave might be cuffed or struck
with the hand.
Any Master or Mistress may punish a slave they find breaking the
rules. This is to make sure the slave does not think that out of the
sight of Master or Mistress that they may act as anything other than a
slave.
"The discipline of a slave," I said, "may be attended to by any free
person, otherwise she might do much what she wished, provided only her
master did not learn of it." The legal principle was clear, and had
been upheld in several courts, in several cities, including Ar. Book
25, page 122
Any Master or Mistress may punish a slave, and if necessary kill them
...But the Master or Mistress must compensate the owner the few
coppers for the slave.
Punishments for Drinking Improperly
Slaves, of course, like other animals, are expected to drink from the
lower level of a fountain, and generally, on all fours. Book 25, Page
217
A slave is not allowed to drink standing up for this implies they are
human and not animals or slaves. a slave caught acting as such most
likely would be beaten.
Punishments for Impersonating a Free Person
"...And let us hope that no one detects your deception, for, as you
know, the penalties for a slave masquerading as a free woman are quite
severe." Book 25, page 481
Any slave caught acting as a Free Person will be Killed
"You should not feel outrage," I told her. "You are only a slave. That
is an emotion which would be more appropriate in a free woman, one,
say, stripped and unjustifiably beaten as though she might be a mere
slave. Beatings, on the other hand, are the due of slaves,
particularly ones which are in the least respect displeasing, as they
