Stegosaurus was a very large creature. It was about 25ft long, and weighted several tons. In contrast, this bulky animal has a very small brain.
The most spectacular characteristic of Stegosaurus is its boney plates. The exact placement of the plates is unknown, but they are believed to be in to alternating rows. The plates might have had several uses, thermal regulation, intimidation, or used as a mating display. Stegosaurus also had four large spikes at the end of its tail, which it used for defence.
