Everything is Big in Texas...

Quetzalcoatlus northropi was the largest pterosaur, and maybe the largest flying creature ever. It had a wing-spand of roughly 30 ft.

At first glance, one might think that Quetzalcoatlus could barely move...never mind fly. Even though its head was giant, its bones were very hollow and light, almost feather-light. Quetzalcoatlus would only need a light breeze to get into the air. Like most pterosaurs, Quetzalcoatlus wasn't very good at walking.

Its huge beak was toothless. Some scientists believe it was an archosaur-version of the vulture...eating from carcasses. But, others think it was a fish eater or a giant filter feeder.
