Introduction

Welcome to my website. Whether you are new to paintball or a seasoned player, I think that you will find something that you like here. I am actually a new player myself, so as I gain more experience I will continue to update this website. If you are a seasoned player you might want to skip the intro, but if you are a newbie (beginner) to paintball you might want to read on.

What Is Paintball?

Paintball is one of most unique sports on the face of the earth. It is the only sport where players can play on teams or by themselves, individually. It is also the only sport where you take the basic rules, change them, and give the game a whole new objective. Let's see you do that to hockey or football! It is the only sport that you can use vastly different amounts of players. You can play with 2 players, or you can play with 3,000 (There has actually been a paintball game that large!!) players, or as much as you want. Anybody can play paintball. It is one of the safest sports on earth, with stats to prove it. When you play paintball, you get an adrenaline rush unlike anything else. Paintball is an action sport, full of fun and excitement. It has something for everyone.

What Paintball Is Not . . .

I have told you what paintball is, now I am going to tell you what it is not. This is mainly for those people out there who are opposed to paintball for some reason. Many people are opposed to paintball because they think it is a violent sport, that paintballers are military wanna-bees, or that paintballers are training for real-life combat. First of all, paintball is not a violent sport. No physical contact is allowed between the players. There is no fighting between the players, either. Compare this with hockey, where players are allowed to bodycheck and slam each other into the boards, or with football, where tackling another player is an important part of the game. There are many other sports that involve some kind of physical contact between players, like boxing, wrestling, rugby, and lacrosse. Each of these sports are more violent that paintball. I also have a magazine with stats that prove paintball to be one of the safest sports in the world. More people are injured jogging, cycling, and playing your normal sports than they are paintballing. The stats show that the average paintball player will get injured once every 500 years!! A lot of paintball players out there that wear camoflauge, and there are also a lot of military terms used in paintball. This might cause some people to think that paintballers are trying to copy, or training to join, the army. This is just a myth; probably 99% of paintballers would never join the army voluntarily (Personally, I think that it would suck to be a soldier). Lastly, paintball cannot be used as a training tool for soldiers, mainly because of the equipment differences. A paintball marker can hold anywhere from 200 to 500 shots, and a rifle (some can, but they are not the basic weapon that is issued to every soldier) that is used by most soldiers could probably hold about 100 rounds(that is probably overdoing it), at max. Rifles are also a lot more accurate than paintball markers.

What You Need To Play

This is a list of all the equipment that you need to play paintball. The most important piece of equipment is your goggles, and you should take good care of them. Always wear them when you play.
a pair of goggles that meets the safety requirements
       a marker (or paintball gun)
an air tank to power your marker, either CO2, nitrogen, or HPA
       paintballs, of course
a loader (I guess that this is optional)
a barrel plug or a barrel bag
       a squeegee
       oil to maintain your marker
       a place to play
       people to play with
If you don't know what some of these things are, check out the lingo page.

Have Fun and Play Fair

Paintball is an extremely fun and safe sport when you follow the rules. Here are some ways you can stay safe and have fun.
1. Always wear your mask.
2. When you are not in the playing area, make sure you have your barrel plug or your barrel bag on the barrel.
3. Do not use foul language or obscene gestures while playing. Actually, this is never necessary, ever. I never do it, and you shouldn't either.
4. Never wipe while playing.
5. Don't shoot your opponents unecessarily. One broken hit is enough to eliminate them, so don't overshoot them.
