Jake Zero, known as Zero by his friends, stands 5’10” tall with short black hair, the tips of which are red, and dark green eyes. He is rather thin for his height, but it makes him seem lithe and lends to his above average agility. He is a very easy going guy with a bright smile he flashes quite often and a knowing expression in his eyes, which lends to his appearance as a person who can be talked to about anything. When not in uniform he wears a black T-shirt with a white long sleeved cotton shirt left hanging open over it, blue jeans, and black combat boots. Under the white shirt hang his dual pistols, just out of sight but within easy reach in case of trouble. Under his right eye is a dark green tattoo of a glyph, a thick line that runs half an inch under his eye and angles down sharply at each end, the tips flared to look like small green flames. He spent his childhood in the country sides of Orisis with his family, and spending all his time in the forest made him very acrobatic and light on his feet as he wove through the natural dangers of the area. One day he returned from the forest to find his home in flames, his parents and younger brother didn’t make it out. He was sent to the city to live with his grandfather, a former member of the military. He decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and enrolled in the academy as soon as he could, determined to take his angst out on any foe that would present itself. He caused a lot of trouble in the Academy for starting fights (even though he was usually on the losing end) and eventually he learned to deal with his inner turmoil by joking about everything rather than starting fights. His piloting skill was the only real thing that got him through the academy, as he continued to cause trouble of a different kind with pranks and jokes. At the end of his time in the academy he was assigned the XG unit Blinx, as it matched his own knack for speed and mobility. The rudimentary A.I. in the unit and Zero were a great pairing, the two quickly becoming close, although at first it was because they both depended on each other for survival, it eventually became a true friendship.
