Background: Zhaan is a tenth-level Pa’u, a Delvian priestess with the mental and psychic powers that accompany it. She can enter Unity with a person, a bond where two people share a mind and can exchange energies, and leave it with an intense feeling of pleasure. Zhaan was married to a leader on her planet, but learned that he planned to give control to the PeaceKeepers, so she murdered him in Unity to prevent that. The PeaceKeepers imprisoned her for murder, and insane with guilt, she took up the Seek, the religion of the Goddess. When Moya escaped PeaceKeeper control, Zhaan became the calming influence on her new crew, although circumstances sometimes allowed for her dark side to escape. When the Stykera, Stark, joined the crew, the two spiritual beings found soul mates in each other. In the end, Zhaan found her redemption when Aeryn Sun was killed and Zhaan transferred her spiritual energy to Aeryn, sacrificing her own health, and eventually her life, for her crewmates.
