Background: Tasha Yar was born on Turkana IV, a Federation colony gone badly wrong where rival gangs ruled the streets. She spent most of her childhood looking after her younger sister, Ishara, since their parents died when they were very young. Tasha became Chief of Security on the Enterprise, where she could put to good use her skill in martial arts and her cunning. Although Tasha was tragically killed by the evil Armus entity, an alternate version of her from a parallel universe later saved the Enterprise and also gave birth to the half-Romulan Sela, who had several confrontations with the Enterprise.
