Background: Minerva McGonagall is Deputy Headmistress and Head of Gryffindor House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and also teaches Transfiguration. She is a very powerful witch, and one of her powers is the ability to transform at will into a cat.
Professor McGonagall is known to be rather strict, but fair. She is usually quite stern and unexcitable, but is very enthusiastic at Quidditch matches, and employs sarcasm to devastating effect.
She was an original member of the group which set out to defeat the evil Lord Voldemort, and was again a key member when the group reformed.
