Background: Jool was raised in the peaceful Interion starsystem, far from the war waging in the rest of the galaxy. She studied rigorously and earned prestige on her homeworld. On an archaeological expedition with other young intellectuals, her group was abducted and sold into slavery. She remained in stasis for 22 years as a donor body in a medical facility until John Crichton arrived for his surgery. When he realized she and the other survivor of her expedition were still alive, he took them back to Moya. She survived, her cousin didn’t, and, already appalled at losing 22 years, she blamed John. Over time, she learned he had, in fact, saved her and tried to deal with going from an upper-class home to life on the run with criminals. The crew, Chiana especially, taught Jool humility and survival and fighting techniques. Jool finally learned life lessons and gained experience to supplement her book knowledge, and though she retained her biting sarcasm, she turned her skills to help her new shipmates survive. When they encountered an Interion archaeological site, Jool was able to return to her people, a more mature and balanced woman.
