Background: Guinan is a member of a mysterious race of listeners called the El-Aurians. She currently serves as hostess in the Enterprise’s Ten-Forward lounge, dispensing wise advice to the crew as well as drinks and snacks. She is at least 500 years old and has had several children. During the nineteenth century, Guinan was living on Earth and made the acquaintance of the writer Samuel Clemens as well as becoming a respected member of Earth society. She possesses some form of ESP which has come in useful on several occasions. Captain Picard is a particular friend of hers, as is Geordi. She has known and disliked Q for around two centuries. Guinan has a penchant for extremely large hats.
