Background: Beverly Crusher spent most of The Next Generation serving as Chief Medical Officer on board the Enterprise, but also did a one year stint as Head of Starfleet Medical. Her interest in medicine was begun by her grandmother, who was a healer and also raised Beverly. Beverly is a widow and has a son, Wesley, who eventually followed her into Starfleet. She is an accomplished dancer and even has the nickname ‘The Dancing Doctor’, despite her attempts to keep this a secret. She is a gifted actress and runs the Amateur Dramatics Society onboard the Enterprise and has even written two plays herself. Beverly is not afraid to risk her own reputation for what she thinks is right and even once resigned from Starfleet for a short while to make a point. She and Captain Picard have been friends for many years and there has always been an underlying attraction between the two.
