Durind the Dominion war, Starfleet reinstated a lot of decommisioned
vessels
into fleet battle service. Among these, were old Miranda class vessels.
A
lot of these ships were lost during the Battle of Chintoka, and
Operation
Return when recapturing DS9. Starfleet ASDG propsed to Operations to
refit
and upgrade a few of the old Miranda classes with the latest
technology.
This included phaser arrays in place of the old cannons, new warp
nacelles,
torpedo launchers and computer systems. The refitted class were termed
Miranda "X" or Lanchester subclasses. So far, only 3 were refitted to
this
new specs. The U.s.s. Sitak and Majestic were severly damaged during
Operation Return. Starfleet ASDG managed to salvage these 2 ships, and
upgrade them. The 1st ship to receive this upgrade was the U.s.s.
Lanchester, which was decommissed in 2335.
