"When two heavenly bodies glow
All the stars agree
A planet might be born
>
Maybe even a galaxy
And in the morning
They don't say good-bye
But with a kiss
They blend into the sky
Oh, they're smiling
'Cause they're in love
The man in the moon is smiling
'Cause he's in love with the girl in the world"
~Harry Connick Jr. from 'Heavenly'~
Sharing Stars
By xenoprobe
She wishes she could touch him again. The
difference between touching and feeling is
vast right now. It is strange because she * can *
feel him, in her mind, in her belly, deep, deep
inside. But she cannot reach out to him and
touch his skin.
She dreams of running her small hands over
his face, his closed eyes and sly smile. She
remembers that all too clearly. She is torn inside-
grief, loss, joy and mystery swirl around in her.
Each bright colour of emotion becoming murky
and brown as they combine together. She cannot
fathom when she will satisfy this need to touch
next. He is gone. Mulder is gone.
Her hand falls to the soft swell of her growing
tummy and she caresses it with as much love as
Mulder has ever shown her. She knows how
much he would love this, touching her like this.
His hands are so much larger than hers and she
imagines them covering hers as they share the
sensation of the kicks and hiccups of their unborn
child.
She allows herself the freedom of tears. She
cannot hold them in these days, everything
overwhelms her now. But when she closes
her eyes and cries into her pillow, she can hear
the call of his voice. She imagines him there,
smoothing away her fears with his hands on her
back- with reverent kisses in her hair.
She calls his name into the twilight. Mulder.
She questions everything. Everything. What
would he do in her place? He'd never stop
searching, he'd never sleep, he'd never lose
hope. She is ashamed that she cannot fight
with his strength. She has employed everyone
in the hunt though. All aspects are covered
and that eases a tiny part of her that still
wishes she could offer more.
So, in the night she sits or cries for a while,
wishing she could touch and be touched. She
wishes that feeling him as she does could
somehow translate into something real, tactile.
She stands by the window, looking up at the moon;
it's smiling at her. She smiles back weakly.
"Come home." She whispers then turns to slip into
her bed. She leaves the curtains open wide to the
night sky. She smiles, knowing that at least they
share the stars.
