Hello from Fl! I'm "home" and finally updating before I head back up to Carbondale, Il for yet another semester... I finally got a car, so things won't be as bad (hopefully!). LINCOLN TOWNCAR!!! yay!
This one was inspired by Vanessa Carlton's 1000 miles. I just saw it on tv and absolutely loved it. Someone who writes their own songs and has such depth... I would walk a thousand miles...

As colorful as paintings
If you know where to start.
But the brush of the mind can only flow
With as much emotion
As a person is willing to show.
You'll see a scene that you cannot see

And relinquish the world around you

For unlike in a painting
This horizon can always move
Or the river in a canyon

The Journey

The journey is long
The journey hard
You can survive it
If you stay strong
Never let anyone crush your heart
You mustn't be stingy though
For love is an art.
You cannot buy it;
It is never for sale
But it's not always free,
So watch for betrayal.
Don't harden your heart-
For stone only builds walls
And the higher the towers,
The harder the falls.
So open the gates
And go off on your quest.

If you put forth your best.

Fishing

Fishing for the girl of a dream
I cast my heart like a net to the wind
What it draws in I cannot keep
For it's never true love in the end.
Longing for her I search
Like a spotlight on the raging sea
Reaching to find a survivor-
Who instead would rescue me.
I know that there is someone out there
I pray that I find her someday
I can only hope that she's yet to come
And not the one that got away.

These shallow words written blindly
Begin strong in my heart
Then open to the weather of the world
They fade away like art
And they may never reach you.
Paint me a picture of us
That will hold our moment in time
For a bit longer than we will live.
So one minute would last forever
I would nearly any price give.
Awakening from my dreams
I'm haunted with silent screams
That bridge the distance between my head and heart
For I know you're there at night in my world
But in daylight we're always apart.
Can a dream ever come true
Or will I spend my life wondering,

To have mercy on me
For all the times I stumble
After you have set me free.
I call upon your name oh God
I beg you lend a hand
And then in time I realize
It's you that makes me stand.
When I would wander off your path
And lead myself astray
You welcome me back to your arms
Where I'll forever stay.
I thank you for your blessings Lord
That you generously give
And through your love that is devine
Forever will I live.
As always I just start writing whatever comes to mind, and if I see a pattern emerge I'll run with it... I started with the 4th line but after putting the third and forth lines in one and two, realized that not only did they rhyme, but the sylables increased- 6,7,8,9,10,11, and 12. I didn't want to go any shorter or longer for fear of ruining it with redundancy or making it rediculously long.

I am alone today
With cloudy skies, oh so gray
Where dreams will go and ever stay.
The darkness comes but won't go away-
My lonely heart a toll of tears must pay
For the solitude endured both night and day.
I wonder if true love will ever come my way.
Here's a song inspired from a random memory... It just goes to show you, that the past, no matter how hard you try to put it behind you, will always be a part of you, haunting you, asking why people give up on a dream.

How could I chase her away?

I thought I'd give a call for help-
If someone maybe could hear,
Then perhaps they would lend a hand
And give my poor heart some cheer.
So I sent out a random hello
Into the infinite space
Never expecting the answer I got
Only dreaming of a distant place...

And thoughts form dreams

It was the promise of God

These words aren't unique
That my heart longs to speak
Of wishing that you could be here.
Though time will tell,
Come heaven or hell,
My love will not disappear.
There was a time
When I thought these words new
But others have used them all thruough and through
There was a time when I thought they were new
And only my heart knew the words "I love you,"
But looking around, there's others I see
Who've been hurt, rejected, lied to- like me.
In kindred company I find solace

Although I know there are other fish in the sea
I can only wish one would stay true to me.
For as He giveth-
The Lord taketh away,
But still I carry on, give thanks, and pray!
For a lesson is sure to be learned
When the unconditional love you give
Is rejected and spurned.
Let His patience remain, never to part.
When I am alone, He stays close to my heart.
