The Future: What is in store for the X-Files?

What's ahead for THE (X) FILES ?

The X-Files is currently entering uncharted waters. Mulder is off the X-Files cases, officially; as of April 29, 2001's episode, he is "out" of the FBI, supposedly fired by Kirsch, taking the fall for the devastation of the oil rig in that episode.

But, in a way, we've been there before.

Longtime fans will recall the episode "little green men" where Mulder and Scully met in secret because the X-Files had been shut down and Mulder made a risky trip to a remote radio telescope site in Puerto Rico.

Also recall the X-Files feature film, "fight the future," wherein Scully was reassigned and almost quit the FBI.

What is in store for the X-Files? When fans thought Mulder was dead, they wanted to Fight The Future, to hope that it wasn't so. When it turns out that in a classic Carter Twist, Mulder was revived only to be fired from the FBI, some fans were near panic.

There have even been suggestions that Dogget and Agent Reyes will eventually take the place of Mulder and Scully, and that events are working up to such a substitution.

But there is no cause for alarm.

Why? Because officially on the case or not, Mulder isn't going away any time soon. Niether is Scully

The future holds many things. Fortunately, it looks like Mulder and Scully are two of them.
