Please note that I've added ANOTHER link to the menu.  Check it out!!  Also, I've added (in red) SEARCH instructions under HOW IT WORKS.

EPISODE ABBREVIATIONS

LIST NAVIGATION Helpful Hint:  To determine which list to go to, first decide if the item is a specific individual's.  If it doesn't belong to a character, then it's considered an episode item.  FTF (the movie), XF books and the XF CD-Rom game are treated here as episodes, so any of those items will be an episode item as well.

Title

Welcome to the Official Keeper's List for The X-Files Official Message Board!  The actual lists are stored on separate pages as listed in the left-hand border.  On this page you'll find answers to your questions (hopefully!) regarding what this whole Keeper business is and how it works.

What's a Keeper?

A lot of people have posted on the X-Files MB asking "What is a Keeper?"   Well,  Keepership is about Virtual Ownership.  Let's say you really loved the episode Tunguska, especially the way Mulder kept beating on Krycek.   So you think to yourself, "I just loved the way Mulder beat on that rat b*stard, Krycek, throughout the episode.  I wish there was some way to express that every time I post on the MB without being a pest about it or getting really effusive."  A Keepership allows you to do just that.  If you become a Keeper, you can add to your signature:  "Keeper of ......"   I'm sure you've seen  lines of text following someone's sig that read something like, "Keeper of:   Mulder's cell phone, Scully's tattoo and Krycek's sexy gaze."  Or "Keeper of Mulder & Scully's silent exchanges" or "Skinner's Surliness."  It's that simple, and yet it conveys so much.  It tells everyone just what you love about the X-Files or its characters; it tells something about you - your personality or your sense of humor; and lastly it shows your pride in being connected to the show, if only virtually.  Anyone can be a Keeper - Keeperships transcend gender or race, religion or nationality.   In fact, JellyMulder and I, amokeh, are the perfect example of how disparate two Keepers can be:  JellyMulder is a teenager from England and an intellifinishipper while I am a 30-something American, devoted Wench to the SPG and a Noromo.  Cool, huh?  So it doesn't matter what your background is.  Keeperships are for everyone.

How it Works

About every 3 weeks JellyMulder will post a "New Request" thread in the Games/Trivia/Keepers folder at the Official Message Board.   BEFORE you post your request (as a reply to her original post), check this website to see if the items you want are available.  That is what this website is for!   JellyMulder and I will NOT tell you if an item you've requested isn't available; you're all old enough to read and with a little thought you can figure it out by yourself when you don't get the items you want.

TO SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC ITEM TO SEE IF IT'S ALREADY KEPT, the easiest way is to search by episode.  In every instance possible, we've assigned the episode that the item is from.  However, we've abbreviated the episode titles as some ep titles are WAY too long.  You can find episode abbreviations by clicking on the link in the left column's menu, or by clicking HERE.   In order to search the lists, go to the EDIT drop-down menu on your browser's toolbar and choose FIND (top window or this page - it'll usually specify) or key in Ctrl-F.   Then you can type in the episode abbreviation or key word you're looking for.

We'll give you 2 weeks to post your requests and then JellyMulder will "officially" close the thread to new requests - in other words, she'll post a message saying she's not taking any more requests.  At that time, she'll compile all the valid requests and then pass them on to me.  I will double check her work to make sure nothing's duplicated (or left out) and  we will discuss anything we're unsure of as to whether it's borderline breaking the rules or violates another Keeper's claim.  We always discuss the approvals to guarantee consistency and full agreement between us.  This way all Keepers can know our decisions are NOT based on whim, rather on precedent and complete fairness.

About 6-8 days after the thread's been closed (and JellyMulder has sent me the approvals list) I will update the website.  All new approvals will be in bolded purple; again, neither JellyMulder nor I will respond with approvals to your individual posts on the Message Board.  All pending Keepers will have to check here to see if their requests went through.  Once I've updated the site, I'll make an announcement in the Games/Trivia/Keeper's folder on the MB.   If anyone has a question as to why their requests DIDN'T go through, they can post their question to me in my announcement thread.  I will most definitely take the time to help you understand what the situation was.

JellyMulder and I are NOT Keeper Nazis (jawohl, mein damen und herren!!!) - we are merely here to regulate The List and to guarantee fairness and consistency.  In other words, we're here to protect YOU.  If we make a mistake or change a ruling, believe me - all of you will be the first to know!   Above everything else, we want all Keepers and potential Keepers to have fun and enjoy their Keeperships!

rules.jpg (12350 bytes)

1)  Only X-Files items can be kept.  We will not approve nor will we recognize any requests or keeperships of items belonging to the actors on the show.  We consider this to be a violation of the actor's privacy and extremely presumptuous. (not to mention a tad delusional!)

2)  No Keeping of people or body parts.  (Although there are a few items that have been granted that seem to violate this rule, since they're established items, they'll be allowed.)  This includes proper names, souls or a character's existence.

3)  One Keeper per item.  Once an item is claimed, it belongs to that person until such a time as they are willing to part with it or trade it for another item.  To relinquish an item, the Keeper must post a "request" to end their claim in the newest Request thread.  Items may be shared if publicly agreed upon by both parties.  (eg. by both Keepers telling JellyMulder in the newest Request thread that this is what they want to do)

4)  Keeperships are limited to four (4) items per Keeper.   That means that if you already own 4 things, you'll have to give one of them up in order to get something else you may want more.   If you've reached your limit, your Keeper name will be in RED on the list.

5)  You must Keep an item for a minimum of one month.  If you change your mind about Keeping an item which you were JUST granted permission to Keep, you'll have to wait one month before trading it for something else, or relinquishing it altogether.  The "recent approval" status of your item will be indicated on the list by BOLDED BLUE.  Once it goes to the normal green color, it can be traded or dropped.

6)  Requests for an episode which has NOT YET AIRED will be accepted one week prior to its air date.

7)  If you change your account name, you must notify us immediately so we can update The List.  Changing your name does not mean you lose your items; simply let us know so there's no confusion.

8)  When Requesting an item, you must be as specific as possible!  In other words, we need the episode name, a detailed description and the scene the item appears in if necessary.  For example, instead of just requesting "Scully's coat" you would request "Scully's black leather coat she wore at end of Closure."  Also, if you request a quote, we need *exact* wording, who said it, episode and scene.  Just because a particular item or quote might stick in YOUR minds, doesn't mean that JellyMulder or I will know what you're talking about!  LOL!   So please be as specific as you can.

Any decisions as to whether the item you requested is the same as a similar item already Kept is entirely up to the Keepers of the Keepers - namely JellyMulder or amokeh.  We have the final say, folks.  Don't worry - we'll keep it consistent and fair, we promise.

Whew!  I know that's a lot of rules.   Thanks in advance for abiding by them.  Our hope is to make it as easy and understandable as possible.

YOU CAN HELP US KEEP THIS FUN!!  There will be times when someone will come along who isn't aware of the Keeper rules or simply doesn't care that there ARE rules.  These persons may "poach" on items already Kept, most likely unknowingly.  It's up to all of us to help them out by telling them (nicely!) about the Keeper List, sending them to this website, and letting them know which rules they're breaking.  If they still won't "play nice," let me or JellyMulder know by leaving us a message on the MB and we'll step in.  Sometimes - and I've unfortunately encountered this on more than one occasion - the individual may be completely unbending and will refuse to recognize our authority.  If you see this happening, please show your support of us and the Keeper rules by posting a message to the person asking them to abide by the established rules, or maybe telling them exactly how their blatant disregard for YOUR rights as an established Keeper makes you feel.   JellyMulder and I only have the power or authority that YOU give us.  If you don't back us up, we can't protect you.

If you have any questions or concerns that haven't been covered by the information on this page (or you've been further confused by the information on this page!  LOL), please feel free to contact either one of us - amokeh OR JellyMulder - via the Official X-Files MB.  We will always have an open thread going; it's as easy as finding the newest one and clicking "reply."

Several Keepers and Keeper-wannabes have requested our email addys.  We prefer to do all Keeper business publicly on the board - that way there is no question as to the fairness and even-handedness of the transaction.  This is to protect all of you as well as us; if we've told you publicly you can have something or have told you to do something, we can never deny having done so; it's there with a time/date stamp for all to see.  So please respect our wishes on this and contact us thru the MB.
