Murasaki no Kaze

Written by: Ailie Griscom © 2001

Opens to the cover of the book then fades and cuts.

Emily outside her door (our side door on Wilma's side) she has a LARGE stack of books in her arms.

Then it goes to Roger coming out of his house (back kitchen door).

Roger: Stupid report on bee's.

Next is Jim coming out his front door (our front door)

Jim: Man, my books are a week over due.

Lilly is the last out (Bernadette's font door) and looking at her watch.

Lilly: I better hurry before the library closes.

Lilly walks down the side of the street where [our] houses are starting at the first house on the street. Emily walks behind her.

Emily: Hey Lilly!

Lilly ignores her, or at least it looks that way, it could also be she just didn't hear her.

Roger and Jim walk down the other side of the street.

Roger: Hey Jim, do you have enough money saved up for Gameboy Advanced?

Jim: Almost

Roger: Same here

The all walk until they arrive at the library and then they go in. The first thing they do when they get in is notice a book sitting on the table.

Emily reads the title out loud.

Emily: Murasaki no Kaze

Lilly: What does that mean?

Emily picks the book up and opens it. She then reads what it says inside on the first page.

Emily: After the suicide death of the princess and her forbidden love from the rival planet the world of Murasaki no Kaze has fallen to ruins. Without the princesses power there is nothing to stabilize the world. Four children from another world enter the story. They find the crystal using the strength of their will. And help to resurrect the world. The journey beings with the turn of the page...

Emily sets the book down on the table, and then turns the page. Suddenly they're all gone. They then reappear, in a world that is not earth.

Lilly: This isn't the library.

Roger: It looks like ruins.

Jim: Like in the book!

Lilly: No. NO way!

Emily: I believe it's introduction time.

Roger: What? Come on! We're stuck in a BOOK and you want my name?!

Emily: Yes. I'm Emily, age 13, 8th grade, and my blood type is 'A'.

Lilly: Why did you include your blood type?

Emily: In case I am in need of medical aid!

Lilly: Uh...

Roger: I'm Roger, age 11, grade 6.

Jim: Jim, age 7, second grade.

Lilly: My name is Lilly, I'm in 8th grade and I'm 13.

Suddenly Kami appears behind them.

Kami: Kami, age 908, and I'm the planet's Spirit.

Emily: I don't think he was at the library with us.

Kami: I am the Spirit of Murasaki no Kaze.

Lilly: Translation please?

Emily: It means Purple Winds.

Kami: You must find the legendary crystal.

Roger: Find it yourself.

Lilly: Look mr. spirit guy, send me home. I don't want to be in a story book. Now a movie yea. But not a book.

Kami: What? you think the summoning spell was that easy? That I can just pop people in and out? Ha! Find the crystal and you can go home.

And with that Kami disappears leaving them alone.

Lilly: Great. Now I'm gonna miss Buffy!

Roger: There goes my Rayearth RPG chat...

Jim: I still have to walk the dog.

Roger: You don't have one.

Jim: So?

Emily: I have yet to finish writing my report on fiction vs. non fiction stories....

Lilly: We're gonna be stuck here forever!

Emily: Let's work together to find the crystal.

Roger: No way. I 'refuse' to work with you girlies.

Emily: But-

Roger turns around and walks off.

Roger: Come on Jim!

Jim fallows leaving the girls behind.

Lilly looks around.

Lilly: Stupid boys.

She points to the left side of the yard and says: I'll take this side, you take the other.

Emily: Kay...

Emily walks over and starts looking around. She has no real hope of finding it, and it shows in her searching. Lilly doesn't have any luck either, though she looks a little harder than Emily had.

Mean while.... The boys are running around the chickens without heads. They first check the obvious and then go onto the stupid things. Like looking under rocks.

Jim's crouched down looking under a rock.

Roger: Any luck?

Jim: If you call pill bugs luck, then yes.

Roger walks over.

Roger: Crystal pill bugs?

Jim: Nope.

Back to the girls standing beside the dirt pit.

Lilly: How about we try digging for the crystal?

Emily: That would be a good idea. 'Cept we don't have any shovels.

Lilly sighs.

Lilly: Oh yeah.

Kami is relaxed laying out on one of the pillar chunks that's fallen.

Back to the boys.

Roger: No crystal here. Let's go back.

Jim nods.

Then once again back to the girls. Who are now playing go fish with a deck of cards that came out of no where. They sit on the other chuck of pillar.

Kami is still lounging.

The boys walk into the yard.

Roger: We didn't find the crystal.

Lilly: Neither did we.

Emily looks deep in thought.

Emily: Unless the crystal is some where that we must find together.

Kami stands up.

Kami: To fid the crystal you must create it together. You must look inside you for the power to create the crystal.

Lilly: Wow. I just love making crystals with my bare hands.

Kami: No. A part of it exists within each of you. You just have to awaken it.

Emily: What a familiar story line...

Emily is the firs to close her eyes and concentrate. Everyone else fallows suit, and the crystal appears in Kami's hand.

Kami: The power within this crystal will revive this world.

Emily: And now we can go home.

Kami nods.

And in a flash they're back. Emily closes the book.

Roger: That was weird.

Everyone else nods. They all then go over to the door and Roger tries to open it.

Roger: It's locked. That Kami guy has got one odd sense of humor....

Lilly slides the lock open.

Lilly: Even I am done with the library for a little while.

They walk out the door and it fades, returning to the cover of the book.
