“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God make it evident to them.”
Now, what in the world is the ‘Wrath of God’? Paul tells us in Romans 1:24-32:
“Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.”
So then, what is the Wrath of God? The Wrath of God is this: God has given all people, who don’t want Him or His word, up to the sins, desires, and lusts of this benighted world. Let me name some: Homosexuality(V.26-27), perverted or debased mind(V.28), murder, sexual immorality, gossipers, haters of God, unloving, unforgiving, proud, and boastful(V.28-31). Now some might say, “Well, that doesn’t sound to bad. So what’s the big deal?” Well, first in verse 32 it says that if anyone does these things, or approves of them, they’re deserving of death. Second, what does God say about Christians that fall away from Him? It would have been better for them not to have become a Christian in the first place! (2 Peter 2:20-22) Third, if you’ve ever accepted Christ as your Savior, and you’ve been in His will, than you know the joy, peace, and happiness of being with God. I mean, as I wrote this Bible study, God gave me the idea, He put the words into my mind to write down, and He will be the one to get all the glory, not me! Forth, if you’re in these sins they may be fulfilling now, but in the future you will regret them. Let me urge you to come back to Christ, or come to Him for the first time if you haven’t. You’ll never regret it! So the Wrath of God is the sin, and if you’re in this sin, then you’re under God’s wrath. And from my own experience, it’s the worst place you can be!
Now then, some of you might have realized that you’re under God’s wrath and in sin and you want to know His will. Others, from the very beginning, have said, “ I want to know the will of God! Show me, you hippie!” All right, simmer down. Now, what is the will God? The Bible does not reveal all of God’s will to us. But the Bible gives us the basics to knowing God’s will. A few things remember when trying to find God’s will.
To quote: Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe:
“Then Gideon said to him, “ O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles, which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘ Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian,” The LORD said to him, “ Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat Midian as one man”
This passage is a prime example of God not wanting some one to know His will. Gideon asked God two questions: Why have the Midianites taken us over and where are God’s miracles? The Lord responded, but didn’t answer one of Gideon’s questions. It wasn’t God’s will that Gideon know what He was doing. But I guarantee that after Gideon had defeated the Midianites, with God’s help, that he looked back and saw how God’s will in using him to free Israel. But what Gideon didn’t see was how someone can use his story and help Christians today with it. So sometimes it’s not God’s will for us to know His will at a point in time.
Third, we must look at what God says about things that are His will in the Bible. In 1 Thessalonians4:3, for example, it says:
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality.
It’s God’s will that we remain pure and if we get married that we stay faithful. Now here are some other verses where God tells us His will:
And these are just a few!
In conclusion, I hope this Bible study has helped to realize that what God’s Wrath is, and that we all need to search and find His will. And if you’re not in the will of God, or searching for it, I urge you to and rededicate your life to God. It you’re a Christian that’s trying to find His will, remember these words: Seek and Ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened.(Matt 7:7) I pray that you will always seek Him.
