Carnor Jax was a former Royal Guard who was trying to take over the Empire. His stormtroopers wore black armor, and his uniform was also almost all black, with a few red highlights (you can view my Hasbro version here.) Incidently, black stormtroopers also apeared during Archie Goodwin's early Star Wars comics in the late 70s. It may have only been artistic licence, however, as it was a black and white strip.
