His sister, Jarvil-Rhee, heads a zeno-biological research academy on Ragash 5. His younger sister, Kista-Pur, is a freighter captain in the Bergolis System. His nephew had just graduated StarFleet Medical and was assigned to the USS Galleon. All his direct family are still alive.

Education: Trill Host Academy (x2): Andorian school of Archeology (Madrina): Starfleet Engineering Academy (Tarin): combat experience Cylar III.

History:

After coming from such a long line of symbiote recipients, Taris never believed he actually measured up to the needs of a host. He went through all the motions and courses so as to be prepared for the joining, but he never thought the day would come where he would be able to put it into practice. So, instead of worrying about what might be, he threw himself into his work. A bright, young man with enormous potential, as part of a thesis he was able to modify warp coil matrix so as to gain speeds in excess of warp 9.6 during his third year at the academy. After this was proven a safe and reliable modification, his work became the standard procedure for every star ship, both new off the assembly line as well as a revamp of older models.

During his fourth year, he rose to the rank of lieutenant and was more than happy in his role as a StarFleet officer.

It was then that he received word that Madrina Korr’s host was on her death bed, and he was to return to Trill immediately to become Korr’s new host. Excited, but at the same time very apprehensive, he took a leave of absence and returned home.

When he awoke after the operation, he remembered looking to his right and feeling a blend of emotions as the death shawl was drawn up over Madrina. It was the face he had seen in the mirror a million times over the past seventy four years, even though Taris had never laid eyes on the woman before.

Knowing he was authorised to take all the time he needed to adjust, but also knowing StarFleet were about to unveil the latest Galaxy classed star ship, Tarin released himself and returned to active duty within forty eight hours of receiving Korr.

He received his promotion to Lieutenant Commander during the Dominion wars, but had it stripped back to lieutanent after he refused to destroy the necklace of Ketracel White tubes which he had taken from the Jem H’Dar which he had slain personally. Recognising the symptoms of war-fatigue, he and his crew were relieved of duty and sent to counselling for three months.

He was almost given a dishonourable discharge for biting the hand of one of the councillors who attempted to remove the necklace, but StarFleet stood by the man he had once been.

After three months of intense counselling and the destruction of the Ketrecel White necklace, he was returned to active duty and once again placed on the front line – only this time he was kept busy in an engine room and never saw another Jem H’Dar for the remainder of the war.

His feelings about the war are mixed, and buried very deep. He is sincere and often tries to hide what happened behind a joke or a witticism, but those who get to know him know there is a part of him which he refuses to face. Madrina was a mother of four, and she was Korr’s first host. It had been the first time either Tarin or Korr had seen battle.

He is obedient, but reserved in his feeling for the Founder that makes up the Providence’s CMO. After the billions that died only twelve months earlier, he doesn’t believe any of them are to be trusted, but believes his view to be unique and keeps this to himself. Even when he hears someone complaining about the war, he will never join in – but rather back away and return to his work. Because of this, he keeps him self busy in the engine rooms and rarely shows his face where he thinks Lt.Commander Esperanz may appear.
