Background:
At age 21, Blake graduated from Starfleet in the top 5% of his class, and went on to attend an additional 2 year training program in Covert Operations/Intelligence.
His file is highly classified and only accessible by those of specific position or rank. Blake's background has been kept classified to protect not only his family, but those innocents that were connected to him during previous assignments.
Missions of particular note are those where Blake had successfully penetrated the Romulan hierarchy and obtained classified tactical data on three occasions. Between Special Covert Operations assignments, he has served as an Interim Security Officer aboard several different vessels in Starfleet, and most recently aboard a Klingon vessel as part of an exchange program.
Blake was introduced to Captain Jones, by his most recent Captain, the commander of the klingon vessel P'Tang, Captain Brookch. Brookch and Jones were old acquaintances. Over dinner conversation at a space port, Brookch regailed Jones with stories of the adventures of the crew of the P'Tang, including Blakes involvement in them. Intrigued Captain Jones looked into Blake's background and desiring someone who could also handle the duties of the position of Chief of Security , but also someone with a special flair, one that has displayed adaptability to unpredictable environments and situations, someone with a knack for beating the odds, chose Blake Phoenix to serve aboard the Providence.
Blake was excited about the new opportunity, but reluctant as to whether he would enjoy being tied to a single star ship.
Blake also has a reputation for being a suave playboy type, eloquent, quick witted, charismatic, and popular in various social circles. He is particularly known by name at several resorts on Raisa. Blake's weaknesses or downfalls include his overconfidence, and an occasional tendency to break the rules for the sake of the mission.
Blake also likes and uses various gadgets and devices that he has retained from his years in Covert Ops. He is regularly seen with various technical devices other than the standard phaser and tricorder.
