The spider moth has grayish white wings, like a moth, a dark blue to black body with light green splotches. It has compound eyes and mandibles like a spider, as well as eight legs. It spins large webs in its shadowy haunts, and waits patiently for prey. It can hover in place with its wings or flutter about silently.

Combat: The spider moth waits in inaccessible shadows on a remote corner of its web, waiting for the tell tale web vibration that something is in its net. Anyone who touches a strand of web must make a strength roll to come unstuck. The spider moth gets a +3 on its to-hit roll against victims stuck to the web. The web can be cut with sharp tools or burnt. If the web is set afire the moth will flee.

Habitat/Society: Spider moths are loners, they leave their eggs at birth and most are eaten before they grow past several inches in length. They generally fight when they meet another spider moth, unless they are of opposite sex and its is the mating season (winter). Spider moths ignore treasure, except for cloth which will be eaten after the meat supply is exhausted. The only cloth they can't eat is silk, which gets caught in their stomachs and slowly kills them. Spider moths generally have several webs spread throughout their territory and check them frequently for prey. Alternately, if they hear prey in their territory, they may follow from a distance to see if they blunder into a web. Some of the more clever spider moths may even attempt to lure or chase potential pret into one of its webs.

Ecology: Spider moths eat everything that touches their web, from flies right up to goblins and the like.
