Blue men have bright blue rubbery skin, are 3 feet tall, squat, very muscular looking, hairless and have pointy ears. They wear nothing but a fur loin cloth. They are somewhat aggressive and don't like strangers invading their territory.

Combat: The blue men's rubbery skin means all bludgeoning attacks against them do half damage. If a blue man takes more than 5 damage (before halving) from a single bludgeoning attack, they bounce backwards 6 feet. They attack with crude clubs (1d6 vs. S or M, 1d3 vs L), but also poisoned wooden darts. The darts do 1d3+1 vs. S, or M, and d2+1 vs. L. They are non-magical, +1 to hit. They are also coated with a slick blue poison that causes victims to save vs. poison or take an additional d4 damage, become less flexible and lose d6 dexterity and also lose d4 movement. Both return at the rate of 1 per turn. The poison remains effective for 1 day before becoming harmless. An average blue man has d6+2 darts.

Habitat/Society: Blue men live in small villages of 1 to 10 huts. Their huts are made of mud and sticks. Most blue men have 1 to 2 wives, they are 1 HD and have a THAC0 of 19. For every wife, there will be 1 to 2 kids. They have 1/2 HD and do not fight.

Blue men have a crude culture and spoken language. Some may know a few simple phrases in common. ("Go away! We kill!")

Blue men have a special relationship with mudmen (p. 260). The mudmen give the blue men any treasure they happen to come across, and in return the blue men mix large pots full of their poison and dump it into the mudmens pool. It has no effect on the mudmen, but will affect anyone who enters the pool.

Ecology: Blue men eat the roots of just about any plant, and the small grubs they may uncover while looking for roots. The grubs are just for taste and don't really nourish the blue man. Varmin Hoofits, the infamous sage, tells of once seeing a blue man discovering a rubber tree, and then hugging and kissing it repeatedly. No one knows how seriously to take this tale.
