THE CLOISTER, SEASON 3
In Da’an’s office, he is standing and looking worried. He sits down in his chair and activates the energy
stream. As he relaxes, a pair of shakarava-wielding hands appear and grasp his head.
Da’an: Zo'or!
It is Zo’or, with a crazed look on his face.
Da’an: (groaning) Ahh... Aah! Ahh!
Da’an’s eyes go wide, and he slumps down, dead. Zo’or glares down at him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Zo’or stares at his shakarava, then at Da’an’s body as it evaporates. Suddenly he hears Da’an’s voice.
Da’an: Zo’or?
Da’an is standing on the bridge, looking concerned.
Da'an: Are you all right?
Zo’or spins his chair around, looking both irritated and frightened.
Zo'or: Perfectly all right! It was just... a disturbing dream.
Da'an: Again? This concerns me.
Zu'or: It is none of your concern!
Liam walks in.
Zo’or: What now?
Liam: You requested a shuttle For 08:00 Hours.
Zo’or: You are mistaken. Leave us!
Da'an: I requested the shuttle. Surely you have not forgotten the
energy-sharing ceremony with the Cloister?
Zo'or: Of course not! But this is not an appropriate time. The ceremony will have to be postponed.
Liam: That would be unfortunate. According to my security briefing, Sisters from Cloisters all over
the world have already arrived in Virginia.
Zo’or: That is none of my concern. This ceremony is simply not a priority for me.
Da'an: But it is for the Synod. Of all humanity's spiritual organizations, the Cloister has become the
most influential.
Zo’or: I continue to reject The Cloister's notion of this... energy sharing concept. Human beings
are physically and spiritually incapable of bonding with a Taelon!
Liam: Perhaps Da'an should make that assessment and attend by himself.
Da'an: That is a sensible alternative.
Zo’or stares for a moment, then his thoughts switch.
Zo'or: No! It is not. If the Synod deems our relationship with the Cloister as essential, then this
energy-sharing ceremony calls for an appearance by the leader of the Synod... not just the North
American Companion, Da'an. I shall attend.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A huge, old house. The shuttle lands and allows Sandoval, Liam, Da’an and Zo’or to come out. Dozens of
women wearing blue gowns and weird hats emerge from the house and kneel slightly. One greets
Da’an.
Sister Margaret: Sinaui euhura. I am Sister Margaret.
Da'an: Sinaui euhura. Your pronunciation is excellent.
Sister Margaret: You flatter me. May I introduce Sister Jenna. She's been with us since the
beginning.
She gestures at a cold-looking black woman.
Sister Margaret: And this is Sister Elizabeth; she's our newest shining light.
She points at a pretty young woman with a slightly insolent face.
Da’an: That is not necessary; you may rise.
The sisters rise.
Sister Margaret: Please, we're ready to begin.
As the Sisters go on, Liam looks hard at Sister Elizabeth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sisters are kneeling before Da’an, Zo’or, and Sister Margaret in front of a fountain.
Sister Margaret: The energy of the Taelons has been with us since the universe began. Only now
are we evolved enough to receive it. With this energy-sharing, we shall become one with the Taelons.
Feel what they feel.
Think what they think. Be what they are. Only the strongest among us can
endure the presence of Taelon energy in our bodies and our minds.
She nods to Zo’or.
Sister Margaret: We are ready to receive.
The young woman line up and touch their hands to Zo’or and Da’an’s. Energy passes between them,
and they step aside for the next woman. Sister Margaret joins with Zo’or, but seems to go into a
trance. Zo’or blushes, then stares at her as she moves away.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sister Margaret leading the group through the house. Zo’or is looking jittery, and Liam is staring at
Sister Elizabeth.
Sister Margaret: We've been building for this moment from the day I founded the Cloister.
Commingling Taelon and human energy, giving humanity a glimpse into the Taelon psyche.
Zo'or: I am gratified it was a success.
Liam: So, what is the theory behind energy-sharing?
Margaret: By cleansing our mind and spirit, we alter the frequency of our body’s energy to match
that of the Taelon.
Sister Elizabeth: When we make contact with a Taelon, their energy courses through ever cell in
our bodies, bonding human and Taelon for that instant.
Renee Palmer appears, walks over to Zo’or. Zo’or is wavering a little, as if he’s feeling faint.
Renee: Zo'or, thanks again for agreeing to meet with me today.
She turns to Sister Margaret.
Renee: You must be Sister Margaret. I'm Renee Palmer. I'm sorry to interrupt your ceremony here.
One of our Taelon co-ventures requires Zo'or's attention.
Sister Margaret: That's what I understand. it's a pleasure to welcome you. Let me introduce Sister
Elizabeth.
Renee’s face hardens as the young woman comes over.
Sister Elizabeth: Nice to meet you, miss... Palmer.
Renee: Sister Elizabeth.
Suddenly Zo’or faints, falling against the wall and sliding to the floor. Liam grabs him and pulls him up.
Sister Margaret wobbles but regains her balance.
Liam: Zo'or!
Zo’or starts waving Liam away.
Zo'or: Off!
Liam: What happened?
Zo’or: I am fine! Simply... drained by this energy-sharing.
Zo’or hurriedly leaves, and the others follow him. Only Da’an remains, staring at a multicolored patch on
the wall that quickly fades.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A small room, where Liam and Renee are talking.
Renee: I don't like the way Elizabeth stared me down. She could have already told them
everything.
Liam: Doubtful, or we'd already be arrested.
Renee: Unless they're using us as bait to capture more of the Resistance.
Liam: Then we'll stick to the original plan. Isolate Elizabeth, find out what's going on.
Renee: Did you contact her cell?
Liam: Elizabeth didn't think we'd beat the Taelons in an open conflict.
Renee: We've lost members before, but they still keep our goals. They don't jump into bed with
the Taelons.
Liam: She told her cell she would find a way to beat the Taelons from the inside. She must see the
Cloister as the means.
Renee: Yeah, well,we have to assume the worst. She's now siding with the Taelons, against us. If it
comes down to her life or the lives of
thousands of resistance fighters, I'll kill her if I have to.
Renee walks out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The gardens of the Cloister building. Sisters are sitting and talking at little tables. Sister Elizabeth is
drinking tea as Sister Jenna comes over.
Sister Jenna: Well... I'm surprised to see you here.
Sister Elizabeth: Really, and why's that?
Sister Jenna sits down.
Sister Jenna: Well, I expected you to be shamelessly politicking with the Taelons. Anything to
impress Sister Margaret.
Sister Elizabeth: Pay closer attention. Sister Margaret is already duly impressed.
Sister Jenna: Maybe, but you need to work a little harder on your fellow Sisters. They're not as
enchanted with you as Sister Margaret seems to be.
And Sister Margaret is loath to upset the Sisters.
Sister Elizabeth: Whether you want to accept it or not, I am here because I believe in what we are
doing. We have an opportunity to join with the Taelons in a way no human has ever done.
Sister Jenna: Nice speech! Only one thing missing... the truth.
Sister Elizabeth: And what is the truth, Sister?
Sister Jenna: That the Cloister has become one of the most powerful and influential organizations
on the planet. And for you, that means only one thing: opportunity. The question is: opportunity for
what?
Sister Elizabeth smiles mockingly.
Sister Elizabeth: It's a shame you have such little regard for the Cloister and Sister Margaret.
Sister Jenna: Look, Sister Margaret has said she will soon step down from the day-to-day running
of the organization. I have been groomed since day one to assume that role. I warn you, No one is
gonna get in my way.
Sister Elizabeth grins.
Sister Elizabeth: Fortunately, Sister Margaret chooses our leadership based on intelligence,
talent... and vision. Not seniority. Now, if you'll excuse me, I feel a need to go meditate in the tank to
cleanse this discussion from my mind.
Sister Elizabeth gets up and starts to walk away.
Sister Jenna: We are not finished!
Sister Elizabeth: Yes. We are.
Sister Elizabeth leaves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Sister Elizabeth goes into the house, Renee is waiting by the door.
Renee: Long time no speak.
Sister Elizabeth: Let's keep it that way.
Renee: Hmm. You weren't saying that when I saved your ass that volunteer raid in Houston last
year.
Sister Elizabeth: I've left the resistance, in case you haven't noticed.
Renee: We noticed, Elizabeth.
Sister Elizabeth: I was wondering when you'd find me.
Renee: You certainly didn't make it easy. Almost as if you didn't want us to find you. As if you have
something to hide. Why did you leave the
resistance?
Sister Elizabeth: That's not really what you wanna know now, is it, Renee?
A couple of Sisters pass by and nod agreeably. Renee and Sister Elizabeth wait for a moment until
they’re gone.
Renee: What I want to know is whether you betrayed us.
Sister Elizabeth: The resistance doesn't have a prayer of defeating the Taelons in a guerilla war.
But I have no interest in hurting them.
Renee: So, what are your plans?
Sister Elizabeth: I don't owe you any explanation. I've got my own agenda, to defeat the Taelons
from the inside.
Renee: As part of the Cloister. How?
Sister Elizabeth: You figure it out.
Sister Elizabeth leaves, with Renee looking after her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zo’or is standing alone in a room. Suddenly he begins to shake all over, gasping and jerking his hands
toward himself. Da’an appears in the doorway.
Da'an: Zo'or! What is the reason for your erratic behaviour?
Zo’or spins, irritated and ashamed.
Zo’or: You do not recognize the symptoms?
Da'an: Of course I do. But it is not possible.
Zo'or: Obviously, it is. I am in ka'ath'am.
Da’an: If you are in ka'ath'am, You are entering your reproductive cycle, Yet, you are...
Da’an looks down along Zo’or’s body, as if unable to say the word.
Zo’or: Sterile? You need not refrain from stating what every Taelon already knows: that I am
unable to procreate.
Da’an touches Zo’or’s face, which blushes a little. He is still shaking.
Da’an: These reactions, The dreams... the blushing... the energy spills. They are all normal
reactions for the ka'ath'am.
Zo’or: (bitterly) Perfectly normal! Except in my case, they are fruitless!
Da’an: Your behaviour during this time is wildly unpredictable. You are a threat to yourself and
those around you. You must return to the mothership at once.
Zo’or: When I am ready!
Da’an looks slightly irritated by Zo’or’s unwillingness to be reasonable. Zo’or has mostly stopped
shaking, and is trying to be defiant.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Someone is watching as Sister Elizabeth enters a room with a large sealable water tank. She lights
some candles, then takes off her hat, unzips her dress and takes off her shoes. She steps into the
tank and lies down, and the top comes down to seal her in.
She relaxes in the water, but suddenly a shadow falls over, and the outline of hands appears on it. The
water starts bubbling and she screams, clawing and kicking at the walls. Then she goes limp, sinking
down and then floating to the surface.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Sister Margaret rushes in, screaming as she sees Sister Elizabeth’s body floating In the tank.
Sister Margaret: No! Elizabeth! ELIZABETH!
Sandoval, Da’an and Sister Jenna come in. Sister Margaret begins to sob.
Sister Jenna: Sister Margaret, what? What happened?
Sandoval: Don't touch anything.
Liam rushes in.
Liam: I heard screams!
Sandoval: One of the Sisters seems to have had an accident.
Liam: I'll call homicide.
Sister Jenna: Why? He said it was an accident.
Liam: Oh, I'm sure it was, but all sudden deaths need to be investigated.
Sister Jenna: (to Sandoval) Can't the F.B.I. Take jurisdiction and handle this quietly?
Sandoval: I'm afraid not. Clear the area; don't disturb anything. This room and the victim's room are
off-limits. No one leaves the grounds.
Sister Jenna is clearly irritated. She goes to the tank and pulls the weeping Sister Margaret away.
Sister Jenna: Sister It's all right; come.
Everyone except Da’an and Sandoval leave. Da’an steps closer and eyes the body. He sees a strange
aura around it.
Sandoval: I'm sorry, Da'an; that means everyone.
Da’an exits the room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The inspector is a hardened-looking man named Corelli. Liam is watching him.
Corelli: Davis, Tyler, secure the scene. Flores, tape the victim's room. I'm gonna need a list of
residents. We got a name on the victim?
Liam: Elizabeth Atherton.
Corelli: Huh? The Philadelphia Athertons? Any Taelons here?
Sandoval: The North American Companion and the leader of the Synod. I trust you'll treat them
with respect.
A peculiar-looking man runs in with a bag.
Rabbit: Sorry, took two hours to get here. Our department needs one of those interdimensional
shuttles like the beauty outside.
Corelli: Liam Kincaid, Ronald Sandoval, Eric Salinger, forensics.
Rabbit: Call me rabbit. Everyone does.
Liam is slightly startled by this.
Rabbit: Okay! I'll take preliminary samples off the corpse. I've checked the grounds, found a place
to store them. Love those walk-in fridges. Those dinky apartment fridges, can barely fit a decapitation
in one of them.
He runs out, smiling widely.
Liam: Rabbit, huh?
Corelli: He’s a little on the quirky side, but he's a great pathologist. So,
what's your take? Tragic accident or something else?
Liam: I don't have a take, detective.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Da’an is standing by the body, brushing his hands over and causing a glow. He stares at it
emotionlessly. When he walks out, Liam sees his exiting the room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rabbit is walking around and talking.
Rabbit: So, cause of death: She drowned and was electrocuted.
Corelli: What?
Rabbit: Alternating current: Even a low-voltage jolt can cause cardiac
arrhythmia, hence the struggle and ergo the drowning.
He’s lost Corelli.
Corelli: Rabbit, there's no electricity near that tank.
Rabbit: Exactly! So unless she ran an extension cord from her room, this is murder.
Sandoval: If there was no electricity...
Rabbit: How could she be electrocuted? Um...
Rabbit grabs Sandoval’s arm to show his skrill. Sandoval shakes him off.
Sandoval: Skrills are a genetically-altered life-form. They're not electrical.
Rabbit: Well, it's no blow dryer, but life-forms are bursting with energy: Humans, Taelons, skrills.
Sandoval: At the time of the murder, I was holo-conferencing with the mothership. There will be a
complete record in my global, Including time and date stamp.
Corelli: They recorded that energy-sharing ceremony. Give me the disc.
An office takes the disc and writes something down.
Corelli: Schedule interviews with everyone on these premises. Start with the group that
discovered the body. Sister Margaret, Sister Jenna, Da'an.
Sandoval: You're not going to interrogate The north american companion.
Corelli: Excuse me -- until they put you in charge of metro homicide, I strongly suggest that you
stop telling me what I'm gonna do.
Sandoval glares, but suddenly the lights begin to buzz and flicker. Everyone runs out, where the
shuttle suddenly explodes, hitting the cop cars and blowing them out. Liam catches a glimpse of Da’an
vanishing into a hedge.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Liam follows Da’an as he walks away.
Liam: What was that all about?
Da'an: To what are you referring?
Liam: Shuttles don't self-destruct; I saw you leave the scene.
Da’an: You misinterpret my actions.
Liam: There is nothing to misinterpret. There's a murderer loose and you stranded us here: Why?
Da’an: It is not your place to question me, Liam.
Da’an walks away from Liam quickly. Liam frowns after him.
Corelli: Transformer blew. We got no power, we got no vehicles. We're stuck here for now. What
about the body?
Rabbit: That walk-in fridge is a dream. She'll be fine for days.
Rabbit runs into the house.
Corelli: We don't need days. Metro can have reinforcements here in a few hours! RABBIT!
Sandoval: Call your superior. Taelon property was sabotaged and I'm assuming jurisdiction. You
report everything to me now. And no one leaves these grounds.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Someone watches as Renee sneaks under the police tape, and goes into Sister Elizabeth’s room. She
starts going through the drawers.
Sandoval: Looking for this?
Renee turns to see Sandoval standing behind her with an electronic diary.
Sandoval: Let's talk about Elizabeth Atherton and the Resistance.
Renee: Sister Elizabeth was in the Resistance? Come on...
Sandoval: It's all in here. Is this what you were searching for, Miss Palmer?
Renee: Now why the hell would I be searching for something I even didn't know existed?
Sandoval: And why the hell would you break into a secured area?
Renee: Doors has a small fortune invested in these Taelon co ventures, not to mention my
reputation. This murder could impact our company. Damn right I'm gonna find out everything I can.
Sandoval glares at her.
Sandoval: Focus on your own business, Miss Palmer, and let us handle ours.
They both walk out. Someone watches as Sandoval leaves. Renee goes around the corner to find Liam.
Liam: What the hell was he doing there?
Renee: Same as I was: looking for evidence.
Liam: Did he find any?
Renee: He's got her diary. He knows she was in the resistance.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandoval comes in as Rabbit scans the body.
Sandoval: More tests?
Rabbit: I don't know when the cavalry's gonna get here, so I wanna keep some blood at a constant
temperature, you know, just in case.
Sandoval hits some buttons on his global.
Sandoval: Make sure you copy me on any new findings.
Rabbit: Corelli said I didn't have to.
Sandoval glares at him.
Sandoval: Talk to him again.... Rabbit.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corelli and Liam are in the living room.
Corelli: Da'an asked permission for Zo'or and him to leave. Said they'd make themselves available.
Liam: If you're asking me to guarantee their appearance once they leave, I can't do that.
Corelli: Well, maybe it's not an issue.
Liam: What do you mean?
Corelli: The obvious answer is usually the right one. Financial records on the victim. She was
loaded. Guess who her new beneficiary is?
Sister Margaret comes in.
Margaret: You wanted to see me?
Corelli: Thank you, major.
Liam leaves.
Corelli: Sister. We play the odds in police work. We follow the money.
Sister Margaret: I'm sorry; I don't understand.
Corelli: I'll make it simple for you. Elizabeth Atherton left her entire estate to you.
Sister Margaret: Of course she did. Not to me specifically. To the Sisterhood. We've all willed our
money to the Cloister.
Corelli: Yeah but the rest of you didn't have a trust fund worth $20 million. In the Sister's case, it's
a revocable trust, meaning she can change the beneficiary. Which she undoubtedly would do if she
ever left the Cloister.
Sister Margaret: Sister Elizabeth wasn't leaving the Cloister.
Corelli: All of the Sisters told me the same story about Elizabeth. She had a game-plan for her time
here. If she didn't meet her timetable for career advancement, she was out of here.
Sister Margaret: The Cloister is not a career, detective.
Corelli: You couldn't give Elizabeth everything she wanted without alienating the rest of the
Sisters. And you couldn't face losing those funds, which would guarantee the Cloister's future. I think
you panicked.
Sister Margaret: Am I under arrest?
No reply.
Sister Margaret: I thought not.
She leaves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sister Jenna walks to the gardens and knees down. Someone watches her as she starts to meditate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rabbit and Corelli are standing in front of a freezer.
Rabbit: Blood chromatography's out of the question. I can't run a D.N.A. Scan. But no blackout's
gonna stop me from running a few easy tests.
He pulls a vial out of the freezer and holds it up.
Rabbit: Look at this... Our friend Elizabeth was pregnant.
Corelli takes and stares at the vial. Suddenly they hear a woman screaming. Everyone runs out, led by
Sister Margaret. She kneels down and helps Sister Jenna sit up.
Sister Margaret: What happened?
Sister Jenna: I was attacked. By... by a Taelon.
Everyone stares at Da’an and Zo’or.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Sister Jenna is resting her head in Sister Margaret’s lap.
Sister Jenna: A Taelon came out of nowhere, Glowing blue. He put his hands up to my head. It
felt... It felt like I was gonna explode.
Corelli: Which Taelon attacked you?
Sister Jenna: I don't know. Please... We have to make sure my baby's okay. Please.
Sister Margaret soothes her.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandoval is in a room with Corelli.
Sandoval: You have no basis to interrogate the Taelons again.
Corelli: What the hell? I got a victim identifying her attacker as a Taelon.
Sandoval: An hysterical victim! Partially identifying a suspect with diplomatic immunity.
Corelli: Don't give me immunity. Taelons can be tried for murder. I studied the Rho-ha case. You
know the one. You were lead counsel.
Zo’or is shown being interrogated.
Corelli: Where were you at the time of the murder?
Zo'or: Da'an already told you that we were together.
Corelli: You've spoken with Da'an since my interview with him.
Zo'or: Of course. One of our devoted human supporters has been murdered. We are disturbed.
Corelli: Anything else about the murder you talked about with Da'an?
Zo’or suddenly has a vision of himself killing Da’an, and of the murdered woman. Corelli is staring at him
oddly.
Zo’or: No. We are finished here.
Corelli sits back and stares at him, offput by the Taelon’s odd behavior.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sister Margaret is meditating in front of a small table of Taelon-related things. Liam knocks on the door.
Liam: Sister Margaret, do you have a minute?
Sister Margaret: What can I do for you?
Liam: I wanted to talk about the pregnancies.
Sister Margaret: Which ones? All the Sisters are pregnant.
Liam: You encourage that?
Margaret: It was in my original doctrine for the Cloister. By engaging in
energy-sharing while we are pregnant, our offspring will enter the world in
an enlightened state.
Liam: Aren't you concerned about the safety of your baby?
Sister Margaret smiles unhappily.
Sister Margaret: I'm not pregnant. I am the only one of the Sisters who can't have children. Now, if
you'll excuse me.
Liam leaves, and the miserable Sister Margaret goes back to her meditation. Someone else knocks on
the door.
Sister Margaret: Now what? Come!
Zo’or enters. She kneels.
Sister Margaret: Zo'or! I'm honoured.
Zo’or: Please rise. I am not a deity.
She follows him to the window.
Sister Margaret: You're more than that. You're pure energy. While I'm trapped in this embarrassing
lump of flesh, a mind enslaved by its own body.
Zo’or: We are not so unalike. Taelons take nourishment. We require rest. And once, we
reproduced, much as you do.
Sister Margaret: I didn't know. What a gift.... to be past the urges of biology.
Zo’or: I am not convinced of that. There is strength in passion. There was great power in Taelon...
your word would be fertility.
Sister Margaret: What is the Taelon word?
Zo’or: Ka'ath'am. But we have evolved past it.
Sister Margaret: You're lucky.
Zo’or: (bitterly) I am anything but!
He sweeps the objects off her table and grabs her arm.
Zo'or: I am desperately trying to ensure the survival of my kind.
Sister Margaret: I understand!
Zo’or: While you humans breed at whim!
Liam rushes in.
Liam: What's going on?
Sister Margaret pulls her hand from Zo’or’s.
Margaret: Nothing! Please, leave us, immediately!
Liam stares at her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liam comes in as Rabbit is examining the body.
Liam: Well?
Rabbit: You're in my light.
Liam: Is it picking up the energy signature?
Rabbit: Yes. Now you're hovering.
Liam looks mildly irritated.
Rabbit: You're not gonna like this. This body carries two distinct energy signatures. Both Taelons
touched her. We've proved nothing.
Liam: I can prove who the killer is...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liam is talking to Corelli and his men.
Liam: Just hear me out, Mitch. With Taelons, energy is their biology. When a Taelon touches
something, they leave an energy.... residue, just like we leave body oil.
Corilli: Like a Taelon fingerprint?
Liam: Exactly. So, we tested Elizabeth's body for Taelon energy.
Rabbit: But we found both there; it's inconclusive.
Liam: You're wrong. Elizabeth has the energy of both Da'an and Zo'or in her body and we know
she touched one Taelon during the energy-sharing. If she holds the energy of two Taelons, that means
the second Taelon touched her later.
Rabbit: Like when he killed her!
Corelli: We don't even know which Taelon the girl touched.
Liam: We do. The ceremony was recorded. You confiscated the disc with the rest of the
evidence.
Corelli: Now you're piquing my interest.
They watch the tape, showing Margaret, Da’an and Zo’or.
Margaret on tape: Only the strongest among us can endure the presence of Taelon energy in our
bodies. We are ready to receive.
Two young women step forward and join with the Taelons, and the recording freezes. Sister Elizabeth
joins with Zo’or.
Liam: (horrified) Zo'or. Elizabeth touched Zo'or. But that means DA’AN...
Corelli: Officer, find Da'an. Confine him to his room. Liam... please inform your Companion that he's
under arrest for murder.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alone in her room, Sister Margaret starts glowing blue.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liam rewatches the recording. When he comes to Sister Margaret, he sees a blue aura around her
body. A woman screams in the distance. Liam runs toward the sound.
It’s Sister Margaret, pinning Renee down and pressing what appears to be shakarava to her head.
Margaret: Why can you give life and not me? You don't understand what it means to be the last of
your species!
Renee: Noo! (screams)
Liam runs down the stairs.
Sister Margaret: It's not fair!
Renee: Noo! (screams)
Liam runs in and tries to grab Sister Margaret, but is thrown back. She gets up and lunges toward him.
He grabs her hands and barely holds her off.
Liam: This is gonna kill you. Your body can't take it!
Sister Margaret: I finally have the strength to do what must be done!
Liam: I don't want to hurt you -- please...
She collapses to the floor. Sandoval, Corelli and the others race in.
Sister Margaret: I couldn't even fulfil my own doctrine. Why should they be able to, when I’m
barren? The Sisters took their babies for granted. I couldn't let that go unpunished. They deserve to
die.
She smiles, glows blue, and dies. Liam bows his head.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cars are dispersing from the huge house. Liam and Da’an are watching from the garden.
Liam: Margaret's theory worked too well. She altered the frequency of her body's energy to
exactly match Zo'or's. She was literally channelling Zo'or.
Da’an starts to walk off, irritated.
Da'an: You are not suggesting Zo'or was responsible for these murders?
Liam: Yes, partially. It was the effect of zo'or's energy that drove Margaret to kill Elizabeth.
Da’an: For over 2,000 years, Your species has murdered each other over petty jealousies in the
name of faith and religion. Those petty jealousies caused Elizabeth's death, not Zo'or.
Liam: Now, about the shuttle.
Da’an: We have already established that I am not to be questioned further on this issue.
Zo’or: You had no reason to strand us here. So, I assumed the explosion was a diversion while you
destroyed the evidence of Zo'or's guilt. But I was wrong. You snuck into the kitchen and the meditation
room, but not to wipe away Zo'or's energy signature. To plant your own. You framed yourself for
murder.
Da’an: A fascinating theory. And why would I do that?
Liam: To cover up for Zo'or, because you thought he was the killer. You did everything possible to
steer the investigation to you. My question Is: Why? Why implicate yourself to cover for Zo'or?
Da’an: Why ask me? You seem to be the one with all the answers today, Liam.
Da’an walks away.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Da’an and Zo’or are standing on the bridge. Zo’or is still agitated.
Da'an: I warned you about the dangers of the ka'ath'am. You recklessly
endangered Taelon interests by ignoring me.
Zo'or: You do not understand what I am experiencing with the ka'ath'am!
Da’an: Of course I do. I have shared these same feelings.
Zo’or: No, you have not! Because you have reproduced, the last of our species who has. I
am the only Taelon who will never know that completion...
Da’an: A fact we must keep to ourselves.
Zo’or looks hurt.
Zo’or: Is that why you concealed the truth? To keep our secret? That I am the last of the
Taelons? That without humanity, we are a doomed and barren race?
Da’an: No. I did it to protect you. You are my child... and I can never allow you to be harmed.
Zo’or’s face shows conflicting emotions. He turns away.
Zo’or: (softly) I would not do the same for you.
