Slightly Less Confused Ramblings

by T'eyla Minh

*alarm bells ring out* I watched "Renaissance Man" again... I needed to in order to get my brain back in order. Several things, though, this time, and considerably less of a rant, just a few things I noticed… hehehe.

  1. The first time the Doc turned himself into B'elanna (and by the way, Roxann Dawson was almost as good as Jeri Ryan at being him!) that one part where Paris kisses 'her', that's the EXACT look she'd have on her face in "Identity" (fic soon-to-be finished and published for your reading pleasure…), but, obviously, she'd be Seven.. We've still got it! Psychicism rules again!
  2. I'm still finding absolutely nothing to even remotely prepare people for the upcoming C/7 plotline. It's just as well I already know or the shock would probably kill me!
  3. Something I thought was almost cute, and, almost, hope for D/7 again, and it wasn't the ending, either… in that part where he sends the warp signature/piano transmission, just take a look at Seven's reaction. I haven't had time to dissect it yet, but I've picked up on a couple of things. Firstly, it looks like she's thinking "Oh my God… did he do that for me?" - so I'm thinking, maybe she was suitably impressed by his performance of it before, or she chose it, or something like that. Whatever, it must mean something to the both of them (in my opinion anyway). Then it turns into what looks like: "No, he's changed it… but he's alive!" In fact, for a fleeting millisecond, I even caught a never before seen "Seven-in-love" expression on her face. LOL, I knew I'd manage to get some kind of shippiness in! Kudos to Jeri Ryan, though. This is what happens when you piss off a shipper - said shipper will try her damnedest to make everything right again, even if it entails fantasy, and if I have to fic my way out of this, I will!
  4. As for the Doc's 'death-bed' confession, I think she's just in denial… OMFG! I managed to turn it around! Hehehe! I AM the Shippy Queen! Seriously, though, hear me out. You remember that line, "Your cognitive algorithms are malfunctioning", that's like she's trying to justify it so she won't have to believe it, right? Which implies that she knew, or suspected. In fact, you can almost see her saying "No, not now! Not here!" as he's rambling at her. She KNEW he was going to confess something, she knew exactly what it was going to be, AND, like I said, now she'll never speak to him again for embarrassing her. OMG, though, I thought he was going to frelling propose when he got down on his knees! And I think I stopped breathing when he disappeared! Okay… onwards.
  5. Paris still knows :) and it looks like he's still the only one.
  6. Where the FRELL was Chakotay?! Everyone was in there except Neelix (and why is he still in the credits if he's left?) and I'm sure the Doc has some confessions to make to him as well as everyone else. I mean, if Chakotay was there, that might, repeat MIGHT explain the C/7 thing, you know, revenge, or something, but he wasn't. In fact, I might even accept it if she'd managed to fall for him while the Doctor was being him, but there was no interaction, so… geez, I just don't understand it…

Right, I'm now considering a tag-on fic, possibly J/C or 7/D, or likely both, to explain everything. Using this and the novellisation of "Endgame" if I can ever get hold of a copy (I tried three frelling bookstores and none of them had it! How may bloody Trekkies can there be in one city?!) we can start our alternative season properly! (For the uninitiated, 'our season', or 'our alternative season' is as it says, basically. We have about six complete episodes and lots of random scenes, and hopefully, we'll have all twenty four instalments one day. And, of course, they will all be on this site. The two fanfics I have up are part of Season 'X', but more on that as it happens…)

Okay, end of Rant II. Sorry about this, I'm just cleaning out my brain before next week, when there will be another rambling complaint. You can ignore it if you want, but I owe Mike some serious rants :)
