Right, I'm sensing that I'm rambling again, as usual, so... here goes nothing...
This is exciting, because Ben 'Crichton' Browder, Claudia 'Aeryn' Black, and James 'Spike' Marsters are all going to be there, amongst others. Needless to say, I'm slightly excited, and I still have 6 months to wait...
WOOHOO!!!
3rd December 2001
As you've probably noticed (or not, it's not like I have any regular visitors...) the site is having a major overhaul, and there are now about 7 all new pages :)
Incidentally, I'm moving the whole (new) site to another URL, which will be linked to from the main page of the old one. The old site (i.e this one) is for slower browsers, and the new one will be for nice fast new ones, due to it being so image heavy. The content is basically the same, perhaps reworded a little and made to look all purdy :)
Rant time. "Farscape". "Icarus Abides" Part II (which reminds me, I really oughta update that quotes page...). They frelling killed John now??? Uh! *sigh* Writers are the spawn of the devil, I swear!
All done for today...
13th November 2001
I think this must be the longest gap between updates ever...
I have done a couple of things... I changed the front page a little to keep with the starship theme, and added a new page in my boredom (another "about me" page...)
Yay! Going to see "Whistle Down the Wind" in 4 days :) happy happy happy!
Soon I will be giving this place an entire makeover. In fact, I think I'll just... leave this one here and start a brand new account (I can't bear to throw anything out), seeing as how Angelfire gives me so much site space, and it will be quite picture heavy. (I'm planning on making it all pretty and starshippy... should look very nice indeed.)
I think that's everything.
17th September 2001
I should SO update more often...
I added another fic in the "Farscape" section, "Moya"... and I gained another obsession in the form of "Moulin Rouge" and added that to the list. Fun...
In addition, I created a live journal and created a link accordingly... other than that...
They. Killed. Zhaan. No fair. They are not allowed to kill Zhaan! It was bad enough they non-killed Aeryn, but Zhaan? And they left us with Stark in her place? And please, someone... kill Jool for me!!!
That's it... oh yeah, I went out to buy the soundtrack for said new obsession and HMV had sold out, irritatingly...
14th August 2001
Whoa, long time no update. Voyager's last few episodes provoked a lot of ficcing, and even more reading of other people's fic. It's addictive and depressing... And angelfire was just evil and deleted everything I just typed here... Grrr...
It was something along the lines of... yeah, I added a new page. "The Rant", go see. I think I finished all my disclaimers and things... better check...
Life-wise, Voyager annoyed me, I've gotten more obsessed with Phantom, if that were possible, I fanficced my little heart out... and that's about it. Nothing very exciting...
18th July 2001
I've come back today and found that my site now IS working after getting a frantic email from Doec yesterday telling me it wasn't. Luckily, I am still here (yeah, like anyone cares!)
I'll now put more disclaimers and thingies on my fics... joy!
11th July 2001
Hey, I updated within the week! Impressive! Why oh WHY is it proving so difficult to get one pair of jeans!!! I've tried two different branches of Topshop only to come out unsuccessful on three occasions!
I'm having one of those "I've-seen-it-and-I-have-to-have-it" moments. Okay, so I've already got far too many pairs of trousers, and definitely too many pairs of jeans... (I think it's something in the region of four...) but there's something about these jeans... they're GREEN. Well, okay, they're blue, but they're tinged green and they're flared and long and generally gorgeous. I know they fit, I've tried them on. I want them!!! ACK!
First, they don't fit, so I go to look for the next size up in a different branch. They don't even HAVE that range... (crazy!) Then, I try another branch, same size, and they DO fit, and I'm just psyched up to buy them and the frelling store has a power cut and everyone has to vacate the premises... Still no jeans. So I go back to first branch - everything has moved around. I couldn't find the jeans - then I noticed the frelling assistant wearing them. The assistant! In MY jeans!!!!! I try the second branch, you know, the one that didn't have them. On a whim I try the sale rack and come out with a pair of orange, flared cords for Ł9. The Sale Queen rules again! Anyway, I digress. Ever determined, I go back to the third branch, the one that had the power cut, to find the jeans. They're nowhere to be found...
I give up!!!!! Six frelling hours I was out! Geez... I'm never shopping again, seriously! But... I want the jeans! *sobs*
5th July 2001
I should really update this thing more often... Major story in my life currently, in brief: life fell apart, went to see nice course leader in Derby, life came vaguely back together again...
Okay, I suppose it's time to explain the long version of the story... about 11 weeks ago, I started my first year O.T. placement and subsequently, 5 and a half weeks into it, failed it... three weeks ish later, I was STILL failing it, and attempting to plead my case to about four different people as to WHY I should be allowed to resit it. Details aside, I eventually decided that perhaps O.T was't the best career choice for me (confidence, or lack thereof, being a major part in all of this) and I had to rethink my options...
What is it that I've always wanted to do, I asked myself... well, write. Or sing. Preferably both... and so, I went to go and chat with the leader of the English degree in Derby and he took me on, meaning that I'm in Uni for another three years, hopefully on a course I will succeed at (or so everyone keeps telling me). And, I can still be President of Chorus, thus giving me the best of both worlds!
Ideally, this should have been up a lot earlier, but suicidal thoughts and non-motivational depression forced me to do, basically, nothing for days. Then I just forgot about my website :) Anyway, now much happier :D
Site wise... just about to go and add a couple more stories/fanfics I wrote, and add all the normal spiel to those already here (mainly disclaimers; I don't really want to be sued), blah, change a few fonts, check links, etc. I've been away far too long... Anyway, wow, an entry here that was MORE than four lines long! (And, yet, still not of much interest to anyone!)
9th June 2001
Today was a GOOD day! Today I got a tattoo! At last! I'll be putting up a picture of it soon enough when i get the film developed but for now you'll have to make do with my bad description. It's a purple rose with black spikey bits coming off it, at the base of my spine. And it hurt - all the stories are true! But it was worth it.
I want another one!!! See, finally I managed to update this page after a long break, and it's actually an exciting event (for me, anyway...)
27th April 2001
Woo, it's been a while since I updated this, I guess I'd better add something. Well... I started my work experience and I have to get up at 6.15 am, which I'm none too pleased about. One week down, ten to go... oy...
Nothing much of interest has happened... I gained another obsession, helped to kill a Furby (loooong story), and started another load of fanfic which I will finish eventually and then get started on the stuff that's been brewing in my brain and still isn't on paper. That's the stuff that I was going to write once I'd got everything else out of the way. I might get that done when I'm on holiday...
25th March 2001
Woohoo! I got my navel pierced on Friday (23rd), and it hurrrrrts! But it was worth it! Yay! New piercing! Yippee!
Ahem, excuse me. Not too exciting, is it... oh well, sorry.
19th March 2001
Well, it's been three days since the Diverse Universe performance and it was certainly interesting... after UDSU messed us around no end everyone was thoroughly annoyed with them. Quite how I ended up not getting back until 3am, when the concert was at 11am, I'll never know. Amazing how you lose track of time, isn't it?!
I might add the whole story another time but I've told it so many times already it's beginning to lose meaning. Let's just say... it was a verrrrrrry long performance....
13th March 2001
Oy... only one rehearsal until the Diverse Universe performance on Friday... and yours truly was stupid enough to volunteer for a solo. Again, the age old question... why do I do this to myself...?
The song is easy enough to learn... it's just... eep! I'm insane, I always volunteer then regret it, like, two seconds later. By which time, my brain has already forced my vocal cords to say "Yes, it's fine, I'll do one, I don't mind...." while somewhere my common sense is saying "What the hell are you doing?!" I think Craig Charles called it The Goon - that part of the brain that makes you think 'I can do that!' before the rational part has a chance to kick in.
Looks like I'll be dueting after all. Not that I mind, it's still fun. At least if I can't get that bottom note someone will...
7th March 2001
Well, today was... nice... we had our morphology visit to Nottingham Hospital. That place is HUGE! We had to climb up about 20 floors (or so it felt like) to get to the dissecting lab. We knew beforehand what to expect - that is, tables with legs, arms, torsos and heads on... so that was fine. We also kind of expected the smell (more on that later), but what we WEREN'T expecting was the trolleys with bodies on... luckily, in bags.
Yes, the smell. At first, it just smelt of the dentist, which is a smell I dislike anyway... then it smelt vaguely of plasticine (to me anyway)... then the two of them mixed together... and THAT wasn't nice. Plus, our lecturer that was doing arms and legs (and feet and hands, to be precise), insisted on wafting them at us so we could see closer, which was great, except it made the smell worse. Seriously, some of those things dated back to 1981! During the last 10 minutes everyone looked pretty green. I was very close to going out for air.
To make matters worse, the damn smell followed me home! Well, in memory at least, and I've been feeling very ill ever since... yuk... ewwwwwww. I did think I'd freak at the sight of the body bits, but that wasn't so bad once we got used to it. But 1981? Couldn't they have found a slightly, uh... 'younger' corpse? And we could see the teeth on some of the heads! Ick! *shudder*
Okay, enough, I'm feeling ill again, and I have to go and eat now... ugh!
5th March 2001
Today the heating shut down on campus - NOT FUN! Two hours of anatomy in a freezing cold lecture hall, and a canteen where you could see your breath... it was actually warmer outside! It did, however, bring back memories of the first week of the autumn term (seems SO long ago! Hehe!) before they got the heating working.
Anything else? Hmm... *thinks* Nope... Oh yes! I went to post Traci's letter and the damn post office wasn't open! Grrrrrr. Which would have been fine, but there was no stamp on it, so I really needed it to be open today. Ah well, another day won't hurt.
Ooh, that was scintillating reading... sorry, I'll try better next time. Just needed to rant.
2nd March 2001
Well, looky here, it's March! And you know what? It's FREEZING! I have been doing rather too much 'listening' (read 'singing along') to "Les Misérables" and "Phantom of the Opera", and have decided that I really, REALLY shouldn't listen to both in a row. It's not good for me, and after doing it just now, I feel like I'm about to have a heart attack. And worryingly I seem to be getting that feeling a lot... hmm...
However, the good thing is, I managed to hit not only that top note in "Think of Me" BUT the bottom note in "The Phantom of the Opera" (as in the actual song), so I suppose it was worth it!
I can't wait til Friday! It's the Clubs and Societies Ball! A chance to wear The Dress and get deliciously drunk, AND a four course meal to boot. Woohoo!
Oh, and the Farscape calendar has made my month! March's piccy is from the Pilot, when Crichton first meets Aeryn... in full PK warrior mode! She's sitting on his chest, so at least I'll be able to wake up laughing of a morning!
27th February 2001
Well, today I created lotsa email addresses... FUN! Hopefully I'll end up with enough to use on most of the themes (Trek, Pokémon, etc) on this site.
Um... what else... spent two hours figuring out the harmony to "At The End Of The Day" in Chorus. Literally. It took the (ahem) three of us that long! Nice to do a piece where the sopranos get a harmony that ISN'T a descant!
26th February 2001
Okay, back from half term, and lots of updating to do.... First of all, I am now a commited Buffy/Spike shipper after only one episode dealing with that subject. This really isn't good...
Next... um... I got a new mobile phone! Woohoo! *bounces* Yay! New phone! Woooooo! OK, that's really REALLY sad, I know.... but I just can't help it!
I spent the week getting to know Sky Digital better again... and now I want it back... EVERYTHING has started. "X-Files", "Voyager"... uh... "X-Files". Well okay, just them, but there's Season 1 repeats of "Farscape" on Sci-fi and it's just getting to the good ones! ("The Flax" - wow!!!). Oh yes, and not forgetting "Pokémon" episodes... I managed to see 3 of them (it's on at 9am, you can't expect me to get up in time for that!)
Grrr... I found out that Season 3 of "Farscape", aka the-one-where-we-find-out-whether-or-not-Aeryn-is-dead, starts on 16th March in America. So who knows when the beeb will get their grubby paws on it. *sigh* I'm moving to America... NOW!
And finally, I saw "The Emperor's New Groove" on Wednesday - funny. Very very funny.
15th February 2001
Well, today started out pretty badly... I spent the morning nearly falling asleep in Psychology (I did in fact nod off for about 5 seconds, I believe - well that's the lecturer's fault for making us picture mental images with our eyes closed - what does he expect for crying out loud!?). I spent the day just wanting to scream, finally got out of Uni at 4.05. I got home and discovered that I hadn't got into the voluntary cathedral choir... this wasn't too devastating since I was expecting as much.
However, all is now better! After the remarkably successful charity collection for the earthquake victims in India, the mayor of Derby wants to take our picture for the Derby Telegraph! HOW cool is that? *jumps around the room* I'm gonna be in the paaaaper!
13th February 2001
Ho-hum, a brand new day... well if you can call it that considering I missed most of it by not waking up until 1.30pm.... I watched "Silence of the Lambs" this... afternoon, which was great. Another film to add to my list of favourites, and now I can at least go to see "Hannibal" and not get confused.
OK, so that wasn't particularly interesting, but I've still got choir to come tonight... hehehe... if it's as good as last week it'll definitely be in here!
*goes off to Chorus*
OK, chorus was relatively uneventful (for once). Today was uneventful, I admit it! I'm just addicted to updating my site!
12th February 2001
Okay... first of all I realised this morning that, not only was it February (Huh? Where the heck did January go?!) but that I'd forgotten to change my calendar. I now have Zhaan staring at me rather than Aeryn with a pulse rifle, so it's decidedly LESS scary. Also, and here's the actual thing that inspired this page in the first place... at about 11.30, when the repeat of "Angel" started on Channel 4, I nearly died of a heart attack. Well, okay, I might be overstating a tad, but I did hyperventilate. There I was, content in the knowledge that I could hurl insults at the screen when Alexis Denisof (name learnt for avoidance purposes ONLY) aka WESLEY *hiss* came on... when who should appear but our dearly departed, green-eyed half-demon, DOYLE! The Doyle-ish one has returned to me! So I fell over and laughed inanely for about five minutes... and incidentally missed the entire episode!
I live in anticipation of new episodes and the far-off possibility of his resurrection... it's just as well I'm NOT obsessive (yet, there's still time!) because there'd be an "Angel" section to the fanfic...
