POWERS: James is precognicent, able to anticipate events before they happen. It is unknown whether this power is a result of a mutation or if James is independently psychic.

 

WEAPONS: James uses miniature Shi'ar detonators and a highly concentrated form of plastique he invented in all of his explosive devices.

HISTORY: A former FBI agent, James Perish turned his skills as a bomb technician against mutants after a terrorist attack killed his wife on their wedding night. Perish allied himself with another ex-FBI man, the bounty hunter X-Cutioner. When X-Cutioner was sent to prison following the repeal of the Mutant Registration Act, Perish inherited many of his technological devices, including miniature Shi'ar explosives that he modified to fit inside wristwatches.

Perish's first target was the Brotherhood of Evil Mutant's Blob, whom he killed with his first device. Perish then went on to take out his hatred of mutants on the X-Women, nearly killing Claire Nyght, the mutant thief known as Nosferatu. He took Nathan Blake, the assassin Silencer, hostage, and gave the X-Women a finite amount of time to rescue him. The combined efforts of the X-Women and Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants finally defeated Perish, and he was killed by Toad.
