History: Damien North bears his foster mother's last name, as he never knew his father, X-Man Wolverine. Wolverine gave Damien up immediately after birth, knowing that with the number of enemies he had his son would never be safe unless he grew up knowing nothing about the X-Men. Lida North, the woman who took Damien in, died of cancer when he was ten. Damien had already proven to be a chip off the old block, with numerous reprimands and suspensions from school for fighting, stealing, and attitude problems. Sent to foster care, Damien rebelled even more, until he finally ran away permanently when he was sixteen. He lived a carefree life on the street for two years, surviving as a thief, con man, and occasional street fighter. Damien's healing factor made him virtually impossible to beat, but his attitude ensured that he had plenty of opponents. Damien made many enemies in New York City, and he was on a steady decline when a chance meeting with Meg LeBeau convinced him to leave the city and join the X-Men. Damien got along well with Meg, but clashed with Darien Lensherr, who felt the other man was irresponsible and a liability to the team. After their first mission against the Eclipse Army, however, Damien proved beyond a doubt that he was an asset, and became a cornerstone of the team, striking up a romantic relationship with Meg and finally finding a place to belong.
