Classes are a vague description of what fighting principles your character will rely on in combat.  It is not a characteristic to base your character on, but one to apply to your character after completion.  The classes are listed in order of priority, meaning should your character fall under more than one category, select the one farthest down on the list.

Rogue

Rogues are the soldiers of the street.  They receive most or all of their combat training the hard way and tend to prefer smaller, more easily concealed weaponry.   However, just because they lack formal training in the arts of battle doesn’t mean they are inferior fighters.  In fact, their continued existence in such a dangerous environment is a testament to their survival skills.  Rogues range from the noble survivalist to the violent gang member.  If your character lives the hard life, has a penchant for thievery, or avoids open combat then perhaps you are a Rogue.

Warrior

Whether it be training in martial arts, firearms, or swordsmanship, the warrior is an expert in physical combat. They are groomed for head to head combat and are the best at what they do.  If your character loves the thrill of one-on-one combat, was primed since birth for battle, or loves the big guns then perhaps you are a warrior.

Mage

The word mage conjures to mind images of elderly men with long white beards throwing fire and lighting around at whim.  While there are legends of those proficient enough in the art to do such things, mages of today are a different breed.  Through deep understanding of the fabric of creation, mages can make slight alterations and produce a myriad of interesting affects (See the  “Magic” section for details).  However, the intense study and training needed to acquire these arcane abilities limits the time one can spend in traditional combat training.  Also, training of this nature tends to be expensive making it difficult for the poor to attain any level of proficiency.  If your character has the mentality of a scholar, an iron will, or an overwhelming ambition then perhaps you are a mage.

Praetorian

The Praetorians are the elite military power behind the Emperors throne and serve as his personal bodyguard. They enter the Battle Games with the intent of securing the reign of the Emperor. Of course, that is not to say that should any Praetorian be presented with an opportunity to replace the Emperor that they would be hesitant to do so.  Praetorians generally fall under the warrior class but a mage or rogue is certainly not uncommon.  The truly loyal Praetorians may be rewarded with strange mystical gifts through unknown means (See the  “Magic” section for details).  If your character has a strong sense of patriotism, craves the spoils of war, or has the mind of a general then perhaps you are a Praetorian.
