Below you can read about my Icewind exploits in and out of the game.
Beware the Journal will contain spoilers! -Moonbiter

The first page of the Journal is up. You can start reading it here Journal of the Black Company.   I have finished Chapter One of the game and I am planning on updating the Journal before continuing much further. If you are wondering about the game, it totally rocks! I mean it. I recommend it to anyone who remembers the hay-day of dungeon crawling. Though if you thought Torment was the best game ever you may be disappointed.

As a footnote, I received a call from Hastings  my local software store, sadly informing me that they had cancelled my Icewind Dale order because their distributor was not carrying the game. Since I had already cancelled my order and had purchased the game elsewhere I wasn't upset. But I just had to ask, you mean to tell me you are not going to carry one of the two hottest titles of the summer? The reply: Uh, I guess not.

Oh well no skin off my nose.

I spent a huge portion of yesterday playing this game. Damn, it is a lot of fun. Unlike Baldur's Gate the fights are really challenging. The enemy monsters are great. They fight well togetherand there is  very little opportunity to take advantage of any flaws in the scripts.

Anyway, the Company is deep into the main Crypt in the Vale of Shadows. Here is a screenshot of the Company after the first "MAJOR" fight in the crypts. I am seriously worried about making it back out. We have found some apparently magical treasures though we don't know what they are since Lady lacks the identify spell.

I am taking notes for the Journal and will begin putting it together soon.

Well I finally got ICEWIND DALE today. I had to drive 2 hours round trip to get it. The stupid "software" store in my town didn't even know what the game was when I called today.

Anyway so far it has been awesome. I had the basic party design on paper so I only had to roll points and put in the information I wanted. The party is of course, very loosely based on my favorite characters from the Black Company.

Character Creation took nearly two hours but it was worth it because I now have  a kick ass party. I got really great scores with 5 minutes of rolling for each character. The Lady's rolls took about 10 minutes though because I wanted two 18's for her, so she would have a high charisma.

Here a quick look at the Company. If you want you can see the raw exported data on the party here

Moonbiter - CG Human Male Ranger
Otto-LG  Human Male Paladin
Lady Crow -CG Human Female  Conjurer
Croaker - LN Human Male Cleric
Sleepy -CE Elf Female Thief
Goblin -CN Gnome Male Fighter/Illusionist

I am going to keep a Journal of their travels. It may not be updated as often as I play but it should be fairly nice.
