Science vs engineering
In general, not very much
Every very good engineer is also a capable scientist (so that he can deal with new situations)
Except for very few (exceptional) scientists, scientists have to produce workable solutions, i.e. they have to engineer them
Regarding “informatics” even less difference:
Program systems are solutions to problems
We have to generally solve problems and implement these solutions
