The Wiccan Household

I have come across many blessing rituals for the home, which all involve a
cleaning of the house to purify it from previous owners and negative energies. All
of these things though are done symbolically. So I thought it would be nice to have
a symbol put on the Wiccan home. The Jewish family would have a Mezzuzah,
which is a protection charm placed in their doorway.

I thought the idea to be beautiful and I designed and constructed one for my door-
way, it is a protection rune. ( I think it is called Algith?)  I decorated the small
Wiccan charm with small flowers, then consecreted it (using the following ritual)
and glued it to my inner doorway on the frame of the main entrance to my home.
It is perfect because it is not visible to passersby, you would have to be either
standing at the door or looking for it to know it was there.

Since the Wiccan Mezzuzah not only protects but announces the Wiccan household,
other Pagans would know by the rune, that they were at the door of a Pagan
household. Wouldn't it make life so much easier if all Pagans had these?

Ritual

                                      Materials: Bowl of salt
                                      Cup of Water
Good Luck Oil  or Blessing Oil

Cast your circle, invoke the God and the Goddess:

"Great Goddess of the Moon, on this night (day) your Priest/ess comes before you
bearing a talisman for your protection. Here on your alter I place the Wiccan
                                     Mezzuzah for your blessing."

Lay the Mezzuzah on the alter, and trace over the rune or pagan star that you
have painted on there with your finger. As you do this, imagine the rune glowing
red with your personal power. It is important that you not only imagine the rune
to glow, but will it to do so. You will know if you are sincere in your actions or
whether you are merely going through the motions.

While you are tracing over the rune say:

"Great God and Goddess let this rune be imbued with the power to keep all in this
household safe from harm, and safe from evil. Let this rune be blessed with power"

Repeat this as many times as you feel necessary, until you feel that the rune is
                                  adequately empowered.

Take the Mezzuzah and pass it through the God candle and say:

"I consecrate thee by the power of Fire, the element of the God"

Pass the Mezzuzah through the smoke of the incense and say:

"I consecrate thee by the power of Air, the element of the Goddess."

Sprinkle it with salt and say:

"I consecrate thee by the Power of Earth, the element of the God"

Sprinkle it with Water and say:

"I consecrate thee by the power of Water, the element of the Goddess"

It is done, so mote it be!!
