All 3 couples where somewhere in the Crashdown Cafe. Michael and Maria were at the counter where Maria was cleaning up and Michael and her talked a bantless chatter, Isabelle and Alex were eating and discussing his upcoming band, and Liz and Max were up in her room talking, making eyes, and kissing each other.
"So your serious, Nasejo,
or this 4th alien is here somewhere in Roswell?" Liz asked as she
brought in two glasses of coke. She placed herself right on her bed while
Max sat beside her. He nodded his hean and smirked. "Yeah apparently, he's
here, I don't know if he's trying to contact us or what, we really
don't know yet." He took a sip of his soda and waited for her reply. Liz
gave him a funny look. "Well, how do you know he's here, I mean he hasn't
come into contact with you yet, right, and how do you know he's not some
circus freak alien who is a potential killer? He may not be like you guys,
he may not be good." She fiddled with her index finger ring. Good point.
"Yea this we know, I mean so far all evidence we've come across suspects
he isn't a decent alien, but he's our species. He's the only other of our
species that we know of now. I don't know it's a feeling all 3 of us have,
that he's near. I can't shake it, and all of us know he's somewhere around.
It's kind of exciting, you know?" Max took yet another sip of his drink.
Liz suddenly realized it was stuffy in the room, that's what she got for
keeping the window closed on a summers night. "I'm hot, I'm going to go
open the window. "Yeah it is kind of warm in here, here let me." Max stood
up and opened the
window for her.
"Doesn't it burn your toungue?" Maria asked Michael as he slipped some tabasco sauce in his drink. "I mean that stuff is really hot, believe me I've tried it before. I don't understand how you can tolerate it?" Michael smirked, "It's good, I don't know, I just like it, Why do you like chocolate so much? It taste good, sweet and spicy, like sweet and sour sauce, the best of both worlds." He thought for a moment them put some more tabasco sauce in his drink. Maria made a disgusted face. "How gross." Michael shrugged and continued sipping his drink.
"You see, this band, It will revolutionalize Roswell High. I mean I'm talking parties, bashes, clubs, the whole nine yards." Alex stated as Isabelle smiled at his eagerness to be in a musical group. She placed her hands on the table around her plate of food. "What are you going too call yourselves, the band I mean?" She loved this. For the first time she could actually have a conversation without lying to a guy. He knew exactly who she was, and yet they still managed to have a normal conversation. "Well, I-- We haven't decided on anything concrete yet, so, But we're thinking of one, don't worry." Name, good point, we have to think of a name!
Max stood up again off of Liz's bed. "Liz, I'm just going to go downstairs and tell Izzy and Michael not to wait up for me, I'll walk home later, and they can leave if they want." A chill ran down Liz's spine when he said this, she didn't know why. "Sure, Max, I'll wait here." She saw Max's back leave her room. She sat on her bed so her back was to the window. A darkness fell over onto her. She felt something, but she didn't know what. All of a sudden a hand reached out and clasped her mouth shut. "MA--!" She couldn't even finish his name. He had both of her hands pinned behind her back with his hand, and his other hand was firmly over her mouth.
Michael gave Max and Maria a confused look. "Did you guys hear that?" Max look at him with a worry confusion.
"Look, you guys go home or whatever, Liz said she'll close up later, Maria, she said just to lock the door. I'm going to go see what the noise was." Max turned to walk up the stairs looking back just in time to see all four of them leaving the cafe. He got a creepy feeling which made him run up the stairs faster, Like a chill down his spine.
"Liz!?" He went into her room to find she wasn't there. "LIZ!?" He screamed her name and ran in all the upstairs rooms fast. Finally he found himself back in Liz's room noticing the window was open still only the curtains were outside the window instead of inside her room, which must have meant someone went out the window. He rushed over to the window just in time to see someone struggeling to get Liz down the ladder. "HEY! Let her go!" The man pulled Liz back up to the roof. Liz looked at him with sheer terror in her eyes.
Max locked eyes with her intruder. "Nasejo" Was all that came out of his mouth. Liz gave Max a confused look wondering how he knew if he had never seen him before. Nasejo smiled at Max. "Very good Max, look if you don't mind I'm just going to get rid of her, and then I'll explain everything you want to know." He was about to start again with Liz when he heard Max speaking. Max's eyes widened. "What? Why are you hurting Liz?" He said it in a harsh manner. He turned around with Liz still locking into his grip. "Well my boy, she knows everything, we can't leave this planet knowing that this girl knows all about us and our kind. It would be insane. I know you may have feelings for her, but trust me it's for the better. Now leave us be, I'll come back for you and Isabelle and Michael, I'll explain and we can go home. Trust me." Something wasn't right, something definatley wasn't right. "Stop, no, I don't care about you, just please don't hurt Liz."
This whole time Liz just kept looking at Max with a scared look in her eyes. Max took one step closer to them while Nasejo brought himself and Liz one step away from Max. "Your joking? You would give up going home just to save a human? She's not even our species. Come one Max, have more sense. Well if you want it that way, come on Max, who is it going to be, home with your REAL family, or a human girl? Go ahead, choose. You have 20 seconds or else, this girl here, she goes, as in dies, gone, caplooey, finis, dead." Nasejo just tapped his foot. Max stood there, his eyes intertwined with Liz's. His mouth just wouldn't work the way he wanted it too, he couldn't even speak. He gulped. Max stood there blankfaced in front of Liz and Nasedo. "Go ahead Maxwell Evans, if that's even your real name. I am giving you a chance to go home!! You and all your friends can go home to the place where you were concieved. Just let me kill the evidence that can link back to us. What's it going to be, home, or this human?"
He gulped, for some reason his brain wouldn't function. He knew the consequences or whatever he did. No matter what he was going to give something up, something he loved dearly. He looked Liz straight in the eye. She spoke. "Max, whatever you decide, I'll understand." Here she was, on the brink of death and SHE will understand, oh God, here she was the innocent one, who should be killing me now for taking this long to comtemplate this situation and SHE will be the one to understand. Finally a connection between my head and my voice. "Let her go." Those three words breathed a sigh of relief deep within Max. Nasedo cocked his head at Max. The he tilted Liz's head to the side. "Is that your answer Max? Is that it? Your honestly going to choose this human girl, a girl who isn't even your own species, your going to choose this girl over home? Is that your final answer?" Again Nasedo tapped his foor against the cement floor. Max kept his rhythm with breathing, steady. 'What was this? 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?'' Max thought. "Yes of course that is my final answer. I wouldn't hurt Liz for all the chances to see home, wherever that may be. I couldn't go on knowing what I did could have hurt her." Sappy he knew, but hey, he was in a crisis situation here. "Your loss." Nasedo pushed Liz forward towards the direction of Max, then he jumped down somehow off the roof and ran away, as fast as his alien legs would take him.
Liz pushed some random
strands of hair off of her face. "I can't believe you chose me over your
home." Slowly without both of them noticing, they were inching there way
closer to each other. Max gave her one of his grand smiles. "Obviously
I would choose you. I don't know if I could leave here knowing that something
horrible had happened to you, and that I had caused it. I knew I would've
chosen you all along, my stupid brain just wouldn't function properly."
They both gave a little giggle. Liz brought her eyes back up to his. "That's
good to know. Come on let's go inside." Liz urged him inside. Max didn't
move. Instead he grabber her hand and brought her even closer to the edge
of the roof. "Wait, no, while Nasedo has you captured, there was one thing
I really wanted to tell you, and I vowed to myself that if I got you back,
I would tell you. So here it is." He swooned in and kissed her. "So now
you know!" He seemed nervous about it. But was relieved when Liz
smiled. She flung her
hands around his neck and hugged the life out of him. What both of them
didn't know what that across the street were Michael with Maria, and Isabelle
with Alex. They were pokey in getting out of the Crashdown and had just
got out, not hearing a thing about what had happened. They saw Liz and
Max kiss on the roof. All at once the quartet said "Awwww!!" Liz and Max
gave each other questionable glances then looked over to the street to
see the four people looking away and continuing walking. Max and Liz just
laughed at each other, then headed into Liz's room.
The End!
